Seeking a calculator program, similar to Windows' calc.exe

First, yes, I checked the Cool and Useful Programs Thread. Nothing there seemed to be what I'm looking for.
Here's the deal:
Calc.exe has the % option available in the Standard view. It has various functions like x^y in the Scientific View. Scientific View is just fine then - except that, for some stupid reason, the % key feature is disabled. So I've got to switch back and forth between the two Views, which wipes out any work that's been done.
So, I'm looking for a calculator that has the x^y button, preferably a square-root button, and a % button all in one window. Freeware, and adware free would be excellent too.

And yes, I checked Google. The stuff I found either has the same problem as Calc.exe, or else it's pay-for software, or else it isn't really very functional - as in, it was someone's high school programming class final project.

WTF does the percent button even do? I just spent 5 minutes playing with it, and it doesn't seem to do anything useful.

You can calculate percentages without the % button ... so in the normal mode, if you were keying in (50 x 50%) to get the number 25 - i.e. 50% of 50, you can just do the same thing by entering (50 * 0.50)... I'm not trying to state the obvious.... but all the % key does it take the value you entered and divide it by 100 before doing the multiplication... hope that helps.

I know - that's why I want the percent key available. 🙂

50*.10
Enter
+50
Enter
Doing it this way, you need to remember the number you entered initially; sure, 50 is easy. Try it with an 8 digit number though.

or

50+10%
Enter

Have you tried the free microsoft Power Tool calculator?
Yup. No % option. It does damn near everything else you might ever want to calculate, but no %.

Calculates percentages, duh. 😛

Same as: 50 * 1.1 😀

I get your point though....

Sure, that's the same number of keystrokes as 50+10%. But suppose I want to do 11%? Aaaaah, think you're so smart now, do you? 😛😀 Nyah, nyah, nyah!!!!

It is just odd how they omit that one little button from the Scientific view. And how they omit another simple shortcut - the square root button. Granted, X^0.5 is the same, but again, that's extra keystrokes or clicks.
I'm going for the ultimate lazy-user's calculator here!

11% => 50 x 1.11 😀

Ya - I'm not sure what the motivation to remove that button is...

Think of it as fat-burning mode instead of scientific mode... hey thats it - my get rich quick scheme..a book titled "The Dummies guide to Losing weight by switching to scientific mode"... 😀

I've always been annoyed by this too but I just go with njmodi's idea since it's really the same thing.
