See women, internet porn is good

Could online porn be responsible for a decrease in rape cases?

A Clemson University study suggests it might.

Todd Kendall, an economics professor at Clemson University, published a study that found "the arrival of the internet was associated with a reduction in rape incidence."

He notes that "association" is not causality, but he does point out that "it is notable that growth in internet usage had no apparent effect on other crimes."

The rate of forcible rape in the past 15 years has declined 30 percent nationwide, according to Bob Dyer in a recent column on Ohio.com. Meanwhile, he reports that "never has pornography been more readily available." Dyer attributes the decrease in rapes at least in part to the increased prevalence of porn.

Many people aren't buying it.

When Dyer spoke to Karen Cimini, a psychologist at Akron Family Institute who specializes in sexual issues, she said that rape ''has more to do with control and power.''

Using her theory, online porn would have little to do with a decrease in rape cases.

She told Dyer that the decline could be due to the fact that ''perhaps we're getting better at protecting ourselves.''

According to the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN), nearly one in six women and one in 33 men will be the victims of sexual abuse in their lifetimes. RAINN reports that only six percent of rapists will ever spend a day in jail.

See women, the internet being for porn is a good thing 🙂

Better reason is people know with DNA getting convicted is much easier now then older times.

Look how many cases 10+ years old are getting solved NOW.

So if my wife ever catches me in the act I can now respond:
"Hey its either this or I go out and rape some of your friends!"

Perhaps in some instances, but she's stereotyping males.

Wow, where did you get this statistic? Sounds very bogus to me. What about the internet would increase child porn and pedophilia? At best it would increase the distribution of child porn (which is not really a problem, children are not hurt by 1s and 0s) and actually hamper pedophilia (kids sitting on IRC are not being molested.)

i was on my blackberry on break a while ago and a co-worker was checking out the facebook app....

when is is loading status updates it says, "Fetching updates..."

and i jokingly said "Felching updates... hehe"

and she said, "what is felching"

and i'm like, "oh, it's something really gross and sexual..."

she says, "tell me"

so i tell her what it is, and she says, "oh that? i've seen that in porn before."

I was just about to post this but you beat me to it 🙁

Porn is probably helping. The stupid part of this article is that it is taking the approach that there is only a single entity that is helping. It is a combination and porn is probably one of the reasons. Other reasons most likely include an increase in awareness and and increase in the use of effective practices to protect ourselves.

Is there any other kind? 😕

Statutory, I assume.

My ex had a rape fantasy, so that's not really forcible because she really was asking for it....

PS I never did it, because she was unstable and I was worried she would call the cops later saying I actually raped her.....

well actually 300% might be more like it... and actually research has proven that child pornagraphy and pedophilia behavior are linked over and over.

You're first link's first sentence:

Security vendor Panda Software Thursday announced a 300 percent increase in calls reporting online child pornography over the last three years.

I'd be curious in the stats for convictions of child pedophilia.

Regardless child porn has always existed, will always exist, and has no bearing on this topic. Adult porn is legal, and nothing is wrong with it. This just shows that online porn has a high chance of being an important factor in the reason rapes have decreased by 30%. It doesn't mean there weren't other factors in the reason it decreased.

Um.

Watching/searching for CP = More demand for CP = More production of CP = More child molestation = More child sex slavery

Or is my logic somehow incorrect?
