If you are not passing you are supposed to merge to the right. The left lane is for passing and if you are not passing someone (which they weren't) then you are supposed to get over. That simple.
And don't think a stunt like this couldn't had legal charges. Disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, and a host of other things.
I understand their point. I think it was funny. I bet anyone that was late or normally drives 75 on that road (and had planned on driving 75) didn't think it was funny.
not in GA.
that law is not national. its based upon state.
So, I guess you only know what's psoted on the internet and have never actually driven in GA, than, have you MikeyMike?
While the state law says what it does, there also is the posting of vertical rectangular signs, commonly called traffic control signs, on which traffic laws to be followed, are posted upon............like speed limit laws.
All around GA, and I've driven up and down the eastern seaboard and in GA enough over the years, that there are posed two very telling signs...........one stating "Keep right except to pass" adn one stating "Slower traffic keep right."
I do know I-285's littered with the latter and some of the former........all nice and in plain view of the motoring public. Now, "Slower traffic keep right" doesn't mean or say "Slower than the speed limit traffic," it says SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT.......and that means slower than the prevailing traffic flow, much like the Uniform Vehicle Code states:
Upon all roadways any vehicle proceeding at less than the normal speed of traffic at the time and place and under the conditions then existing shall be driven in the right-hand lane then available for traffic.
So, while the state law has one thing stated, the roadways have another posted all over them.
