Yeah, I read the FAQs but I am still unsure about things.
Here's the situation:

Been running ME..still wanting to hang onto something familiar.

Wanting to go dual boot ME/W2K Professional.

Not really wanting to partition harddrive but do want to format my HD (got my data on CD)
I have done the fdisk/mbr, format c:/u, setup before with ME.

I know I need to install ME first and then W2K.

So, how do I add W2k? Do I reboot in DOS and go from "A Prompt" again?

Any help would be appreciated.

Um... partitioning your drive really isn't optional here. Easist thing is to create two partition before installing ME using fdisk, which should be included on a windows boot floppy. Or, if you've got something like Partition Magic, you could use that now to resize your ME partition. Assuming you have ME on the first partition out of two, just boot to the W2K CD and tell it to install to the second partition.

No, don't have Partition Magic and I never have been able to figure out how to create separate partitions in fdisk but I think that's what I am gonna do.

Should I just set up 2 Primary partitions? I'm running a 40G. HD.

Thanks,
Jeff

Setup with FDisk as follows:

Primary Partition C:\ 100mb
Extended Partition with Logical Drives:

D:\ 3gb
E:\ 3gb

the rest however you want

Install WinME to D:\

Restart, insert Win2k Pro CD, set to boot to CD in BIOS, install Win2k to E:\

Done 🙂

But... ME sucks and isn't worth using anyway, and 2k is very much similar to it, no reason to hang onto ME at all. And that way you wouldn't need to partition either. Always better to make partitions first rather then resize after with Partition Magic

Thanks, Superwormy,

Ya know, I was thinking the same thing about not even installing ME again. I have never used W2k but I am sure I can figure it out.

Thanks,
Jeff
