If we put every senator and representive that leaked some confidential or secret information to the Press in jail, there would not be anyone left to work on a security council. This is a can of worms that is best left unopened.

im not sure i see the point youre trying to make...
is it that we continue to compromise our national security and just turn a blind eye towards it?

No, if they break the law - they need to be punished - no free rides just because they are "politicians". That being said - I think this latest deal is a tempest in a teapot - some are trying to spray the scalding water all over the place though, and that's what I have a problem with.

Everyone who has a security clearence is investigated (at different levels based on your clearence) and you are indoctirnated multiple times, sometimes a different indoc for each project.

In addition you sign agreements stating that you understand the applicable laws and consequences for revealing that informtaion.

EVERYONE who goes through this process should be held accountable.
