I was under the impression that the NAT 'firewall' on a Linksys router was pretty decent protection against hackers, but I've been running Zonealarm recently anyway just in case.
The surprising thing is that, in the last 2 days, ZoneAlarm has stopped 298 port scans trying to access my computer - which is on my LAN side of the router. The messages are all like:
<< The firewall has blocked Internet access to your computer (UDP Port 162) from 192.168.1.1 (UDP Port 4253). >>
I was not using my computer at the time - nor was anyone else here. I'm not on the DMZ host. I have no ports forwarded (none at all), and am using a very strong password (Intel is big on pounding the idea of strong passwords into our heads, this is a strong one).
So, I'm concerned that there is an undocumented hole in the Linksys NAT firewall. Has anyone heard of any issues/exploits with this? Has anyone else had ZoneAlarm alerts on ports that they haven't forwarded using a Linksys router. Can anyone offer suggestions on what could be happening?
Thanks

The LAN usually has three computers... my laptop, my wife's laptop, and my computer. All three spend their days cracking RC5.
