Heres an interesting question I have:
A friend and myself using the same ISP have a "business" connection account using aDSL with 3com HomeConnect external modems. In our package we both get 5 unique IP#'s to use at our discretion.
Im in one part of the city and my friend is in another section.
We both only use 2 IP#'s
My question is this:
Keeping the DNS info the same (they are the same for both of us) could i set my IP#/Gateway/Subnet mask to one of his UNUSED IP#'s/ given to him? Assume subnet mask etc is setup properly.
I could thus "spoof" myself using an IP# that is associated with his account.
Im just wondering if there is rule sets implemented in my ISPs routers that are smart enough to konw that my IP# range is associated with my local CO/NAP office and shouldnt be used in another sub area of the city.
I guess i have an experiment to try tomorow
