Security forum

Before I get flamed or the required 'Not going to happen', it's been at least 6 months since I've asked...

Can we please create a Security forum? The explosive growth this last year in attacks and exploits (spyware, phishing, worms, etc) has created a bunch of threads all over the place. I maintain it would be nice to have a single area regarding it, I can certain volunteer to help...

I'll second that!

An active security forum with a couple good stickies at the top would be really helpful for a lot of Anandtech members.

There are already so many excellent security sights out there. Nothing personal, but I'd rather ask for and recieve help from people who are security professionals then from neffers who just want to up their post counts.

I still think it's a horrible idea.

Why? I didn't know you felt that way...

Mostly laziness. It would be one more forum to look into during "my rounds" around the site. It'll be one more forum full of off topic, basic, and totally boring threads.

Anandtech isn't mine though, so if one appears, I'll go with it. 🙂

You want the security professionals to come first, then the neffers? That could be a security forum rule. No neffing until after a security professional has posted in the thread.

And what if we are both a neffer and a security professional? Or what about a neffing security professional that is less interested in post count (unless in OT, P&N, DC, or FI) and more interested in helping out?

I thought the age limit was 16 on here. There shouldn't be anyone that has professional security experience. 😕

Works (welll, I did when I left for vacation a week 1/2 ago, but my VPN is still up, so I think they'll take me back 😉). Chief Architect, Symantec.

Glad to hear!

I'm certainly not insinuating that there is no security help here. 🙂 I just don't want to start a security thread about upcoming patches and exploits and see "PWN3D" in the responses. 😛
