Security camera needed

My niece owns and operates a little "stand" at a local shopping mall. She sells purses and cheap jewelry but needs to hire someone to help her with the hours. Every girl she has hired has stolen from her.
I've been asked to look into a camera that would look down at the cash register and that she can view from her computer at home. The stand has telephone and electric but no broadband. Any ideas would be appreciated.

This looks tricky. Either you would need a computer with a webcam at the stand or a camera that can be addressed via IP. The latter seems to be fairly expensive.

The problem with the latter is even though it would be internet ready, it wouldn't necessarily come with a means to access a wireless carrier.

This is a rather tricky situation. Most of your options will cost you some cash, so keep that in mind. However, I do have a solution for you.

There's a thing called WiFlyer that allows you to share a dial-up connection wirelessly. Get one of these, plug in your phone lin and you have yourself a wireless net connection from dial-up. After that, just get a WiFi webcam and you're set.
