Securing our border

The wall came down due to economic reasons; not because it failed.

It is the attitude of the government in that once you reach American soil; you get certain rights and benefits until shown otherwise.

As a result; this buys the illegals enough breathing room that the bleeding heart illegal advocates can then marshal resources to con/delay the system until the illegals are able to get lost/forgotten.

When the illegals get to go to the head of the line vs people that apply through legal means it demonstrates a serious flaw in the system and priorities.

The wall failed because ultimately walls fail. A lot of Germans still made it over that wall. And does anybody trust a wall that was built to keep people out cant be turned to keep people in?

You are making a great argument for a more simple legalization process. One where illegals become citizens and are on the same playing field as legal citizens.

Take a look at how Mexico secures it's southern boarder. Yes, I know it's a much smaller boarder than ours, but it clearly shows the hypocrisy of the Mexican government. Mexico is know for being not very nice to its illegals.

Our boarder will never be secured because the Ds want voters and a permanent underclass to pander to and many of the Rs want the cheap labor and think that some of those good catholic Mexicans won't vote D.

There is no "A" in Border.

Unless you meant a renter to whom you provide meals, or a pirate attempting to commandeer your vessel , or one of these:

I think we have seen a wall like this before. Oh where was that again? Berlin I believe? They have since taken that wall down for good reason.

And that reason had nothing to do with this wall. 2 totally seperate reasons for the wall. But i guess at times its fun to compare apples to oranges.

It is laughable to me that there are people who actually don't think a nation should be able to physically control who comes and goes from that nation. Are you even really a nation without that ability? Build a wall. Do it yesterday.

I think we may very well see the day come when securing our border will become a huge issue. In the meantime, we have to humor those that don't recognize trouble until after it has occurred. They're like the dog standing in the middle of the road that never realizes there is danger fast approaching until the car hits it. At that instant, the danger is recognized. Of course the dog then blames the cat.

It's not a matter of being "able" to build a wall; it's having the intelligence to see that it's a stupid idea.

Having the power to do something does not mean that doing that thing is a good idea. Is building a wall over such a huge area a good idea? Hell no. It's a waste of time, money, and PR.

Let's use our heads and not build a wall. Use that money more productively on...well...almost anything else.

It's laughable to me that people create straw man arguments when they don't understand the topic.

Plus, it ignores that fact that most illegals came here legally, and have over stayed their visas. How's securing the border going to fix that?

I don't think I've ever responded to my own post before, but I have a solution for this. Think Escape From New York. Must return to port of entry for antidote.

Maybe because that was in the middle of a country? This is our border we are talking about. I live in southern texas and its almost a crime to speak english here. The language of the people that died to form this country.

Erect a wall, and let legal immigrants come to the gates if they are indeed legal. I say legal if they can speak fluent english and have a job lined up.

Honestly I'm all for tightening up the boarders, making fines be painful to companies who violate the law and making immigration simpler and easier especially for someone who really needs it or brings needed skills.

How would we react to this man today? Lets assume he was able to do it with all of our current tracking abilities, to me this man is a hero but I'll bet many on this forum would call him a criminal if this occurred today.

Oh get a clue. You freaking stole your land from those who were already living there.

So, a wall isn't comparable to a wall? Doesn't really matter why either is built.....they're to keep the sides separate and prevent people from crossing it.

Just a quick question....how much are we willing to spend on border security anyway?

Bush spent $47B in his first administration on border security, $60B in his second, and Obama spent $73B in his first administration.

In negotiating Bush's failed 2007 Immigration Reform deal, Republican lawmakers demanded that President Bush deploy four drones to scan the border, build 105 radar and camera towers, raise the number of Border Patrol agents to 20,000, and erect 670 miles of fencing. Today, the U.S. has 10 border drones, 300 towers, and 21,394 agents—18,500 of them stationed on the U.S.-Mexico border. Fencing now covers 651 miles of the border.

So, how much more do we spend? We averaged $18.25B a year on border security during Obama's first administration.....how much more do we spend?

There's no statute of limitations on hypocrisy.

Or stupidity.

Or historical ignorance.

Or being unable to count.

So his ancestors' did it?
Should no one live in Texas because of the past?
Isn't the entire united states taken from native Americans?
Isn't essentially everywhere where in the world someone else's home at some point in history?

That's my point.

Stop being so sanctimonious about your sacred borders; they were created artificially through conquest and murder.

Some people act like God Almighty signed over the lease to them.

"The language of the people that died to form this country." Jesus Wept!

I'm all for immigration but we all need guidelines to prevent chaos.
Do you keep your door open at night so anyone can sleep on your bed or floor? If so do you honestly have no expectations or house rules for the guy camping out in your bathroom?

So should the British also sue to reassimilate the USA? After all we started a murdererous war just because we wanted to keep more of our money and make our own rules.

I'm not arguing any of that; just his comical misunderstanding of past history and current events.

But yeah also don't need Hispanics with their statically higher obesity rates increasing our health care burden.

Lightweight cruiser drones for the sea and wall+drones for land
