securing HDMI connection

ah that is genius, thanks. i've got the cable propped up between some pins right now. you think i could get that adapter at a best buy?
 
just get a DVI to HDMI cable. that's what I did and I don't have to deal with adapters and issues like that. the cables are pretty inexpensive if you order from monoprice.

also, if you already have an extra HDMI cable you could get a DVI to HDMI adapter and hook the adapter to the computer end.

Just make sure the cable is not hanging on the port, doesn't really matter how you do it.

Just order some hdmi cables on top of the port saver from monoprice.

i know the cables are marked up, i just figured adapters might not be. my htpc is actually a 4U rack and it's under my bed. it's quite a stretch, but monoprice has competitively priced 25 foot cables. i paid $60 for this one at newegg, but it's technically a dual link dvi cable and it's just very hefty, and about a penny in cross sectional area.

this cable is still hefty enough to pull on the female connector in the TV. i would need the port saver regardless and it's only 3 bucks so i may as well just try that.

Port saver is a second line of defense. First line is still stress relief.

Worst case is to bend 2 paper clips and hook it on the tv vents. Tie a cord to the hdmi cable and have 2 ends to tie to the paper clips. Suspend the cable though them as opposed of having the port support it.


And clean that tv... you need to keep it clean so it can dissipate heat properly.
