Securing Fans in the case

Hey,

I have always wondered how people secure case fans in the cases in places other than where there are designated screw holes. I needed some more cooling as it is summer and my temps were too high for my level of comfort, so I purchased 2 Scythe Slipstreams with the intention of placing them in the Hard drive and DVD drive bays- 1 on top bay one on bottom bay. They are at the end of the bays (away from the front). I could just use wire to secure them, but I would prefer a more elegant and less hacky way to hold them i there. Can anyone give me any suggestions as to how I could secure them there? Are there brackets I can buy or something like that?

Thanks

I've used zip ties, small bungee cords (I sell the 1/8" wire clamps used for bungee mount attachment points in my FS/T listing), and/or maybe a Zalman (some places sell them separately from the 90mm fan kit) or Sunbeamtech bracket (this one's kind of expensive and hard to find). The Aerocool Masstige line of cases come with a nice 120mm fan mount that may be ordered as a replacement part (may need some "social engineering" skillz). It is designed to mount in the 5" drive bays (takes up the front of 3 bays, but are easily modded). I won't mention the Kama Bay as it comes with a fan that moves very little air while being very expensive.

I like hot melt glue, the lowtemp stuff. It secures the fan and there is no chance of it rattling or vibrating against the case.
It also comes off easily.

yeah, I also use it to secure loose wires. The temp of the glue is way below the melting point of the insulation.

Me too. Did you do it to the X-1? (I remember you had a Raidmax X-1)

Thanks for the responses. I actually just used wire again, but maybe since I have laready hacked it up, I will use some tape to secure it too :p
