Anyone know of a webmail client that is secure similar to Hushmail, but also offers two-factor authentication... like g-mail currently does...

I am looking to find a new avenue to forward/tunnel my emails through that is secure and doesn't monitor my emails and utilize data for advertisement purposes (like gmail currently does) I know its free and I like gmail but I would rather pay and not have my data mined.... just want to get all the same features.

It would be nice if the web client also had the 'send as...' feature that gmail does where you can link multiple addresses to the "From" field.

lxskllr, what do you think of this? Maintaining google but getting rid of the advertisement crap... You seem rather 'in the know' when it comes to the whole data-mining aspect of things... basically im looking for email I can own without other peering eyes viewing or manipulating or harvesting data from it for their own gain...

which pushes people towards this avenue.. which.. might be a worthwhile investment to even replace my office applications and upgrade to cloud technologies and away from local installs (I already utilize the viewing features of documents inside gmail and like it...)

For this reason, I like the idea of neomail's Swiss server option. You can also pay them anonymously which is a plus. I'm currently trialing Lavabit's free service, and I've been happy with it. You don't get the serverside encryption with the free service, but everything works smoothly. I need to decide who I want to give my money to. I don't use webmail. Lavabit's is functional, but I don't really use it. It's for very infrequent use when I don't have my computer, or a portable drive with an email client on it.

I'm not familiar with Google's commercial offerings. I read a bit through the site, and it didn't say if they "read" your paid email or not. They read your free email, but they don't like to say that either :^D

There can be conveniences, and money savings by businesses going to the "cloud", but realize you're losing control of your data. It's being manipulated by software and machines you don't control. For business purposes, I'd prefer doing everything in-house, including email. It would likely cost more, but you get better security. When the government knocks on your door wanting your data, they have to come with a warrant. That isn't necessary if they want to get it from Google. The standards are much lower.

thanks for all the info, ill definitely read that stuff... your opinion is appreciated. :) as always i look forward to the useful information you post, i lurk a lot but i find myself running into stuff you post quite often and enjoy reading it.

Hello, noob here (new to forum, not anandtech). With the demise of Lavabit, I thought it wouldn't be inappropriate to revive this thread and see if anybody knows of alternatives?
