So my dad has a password so I cant get in to windows.. but I saw a opporutunity to go into his BIOS. It was at 4.2Ghz and the HSF is soo big and loud like a jet and you cant control the fan speed. Soo I just upped the multi more to 4.6Ghz didn't touch voltage,, I think it was at 1.30v prior. thx gl

:whiste:

now maybe a video render will do it 2 minutes faster. :)

YHPM. Also, this isn't your blog. If you're going to post, please post something of greater substance.

Really? I would leave it alone because it doesn't sound like you know what you are doing. How is this relevant to anything anyways?

You shouldn't breach someone's trust like that, taking advantage of them and doing stuff to their computer behind their back is just not right. Not ever.

If it was me I'd be pissed that you decided to take it upon yourself to invalidate my warranty in addition to putting all of my files in jeopardy of silent data corruption.

You don't know your dad's system password? He doesn't trust you. Leave his PC alone.

Gee, why would he not allow you access to his PC.

Technically, since this is a felony (unauthorized computer access), can ATF send his personal info to the local authorities? ;)

You might not have touched the voltage but the CPU will instruct the mobo to raise the voltage commensurate with its new multiplier and corresponding VID in the hardcoded lookup-table.

And since those VIDs seem to be programmed to account for worst-case scenerios in terms of chip binning and shmoo potential, your dad's poor 2600K is probably screaming while being loaded with 1.5V and hitting 90C temps.

Really tweakboy, if this is a joke thread then touché, you punked us good, but if you really did do this then you should (1) undo what you did, and (2) tell your dad what you did.

I think it's fantastic that he's trying to help his pops out. You need to go back and set it to 5.0GHz. No point in going to a measly 4.6GHz. It will do 5.0GHz no problem.

Black ops 2 most likely ;)

No, MW3. This guy posted something in the VC&G forum about MW3 acting like he had some special issue, and it is an issue that is present in a specific cracked version of the game, not the legit one.

One can only hope. I wonder how old tweakboy is that he can't take the hint that his dad doesn't want him on his computer.

I would be bloody annoyed if anyone decided to overclock my PC without my permission. I want my kit to last, produce as little heat and waste as little energy as possible.

Dude I did this when I was 12 to my Dads QX9650 - a 1k CPU in England - Burnt it out completely. Not a great idea bud! I suggest you tell your Dad and revert it before you cause any damage.

"let me just raise the voltage a little bit"
*raises it 1.0v*
*poof*

None of this makes any sense, except for the goal of attention getting.
Which IMO, is all that the OP is continually seeking. Attention whore.

Tweak is the most puzzling member of these forums -- even more so than alky.

I've never ever heard or thought about secretly OC'ing a computer. I mean wth!

OP, why don't you put yourself in your dad's shoes? You have somebody living in the same house whom you don't want to touch your PC, so you password-protect your PC. Then this prick comes in and upps your CPU speed without your knowledge. Never mind that it can go unstable or kaput but how pissed off will you be by this unauthorised change to your property?

How old are you seriously?
