12-19-2004 "Secretary Rumsfeld is doing a spectacular job"

Rumsfeld, who agreed to Bush's request earlier this month to remain in the Cabinet during the president's second term, won a vote of confidence from the White House on Sunday.

"Secretary Rumsfeld is doing a spectacular job," the president's chief of staff, Andrew Card, told ABC's "This Week."

The president has provided good direction for our military, and Secretary Rumsfeld is transforming our military to meet the threats of the 21st century," Card said.

More than 1,300 American troops have died since the war began in March 2003. On Sunday, car bombs rocked Iraq's two holiest Shiite cities, killing more than 60 people and wounding more than 120. In Baghdad, the capital, dozens of gunmen killed three Iraqi employees of the organization running next month's elections.

U.S. troops in Kuwait have complained to Rumsfeld about long deployments and a lack of armored vehicles and other equipment.

The guy that setup the question up should be fired, as only 20 of the 800 vehicles in that unit had not been armored. The remaining 20 were finished the next day. It sounds like Rumsfield had the armor issue under control.

Ummm... riiiiight. If that was the case, why didn't Dumbsfeld actually state that as a defense instead of being a jackass to the troops. The journalist suggested the soldier ask that question, the soldier didn't have to. Sorry, but journalists have a DUTY to ask tough questions even by proxy. It goes to show that the Bush administration can't defend its laurels when asked anything but softball questions. Sorry, but Freedom of the Press takes precedent even over the Bush-God.

That is the case. This an example of a reporter throwing a bomb. This unit was almost fully armored.

Understanding Rumsfeld's reaction takes a bit of consideration - he isn't a CEO keeping in his head the numbers to one or two products. The guy has to have at least a couple dozen figures and priorities in his head from sunup to sundown. How realistic is it to expect him to be a human calculator and spit out numbers and statuses on the spot? Aides exist for a reason - it's not a one-man operation.

I don't really care for the guy myself, but pretending that he should have arbitrary numbers ready to respond on the spot is a little much. I'm surprised he came back with a relevant answer at all.

There are 4,500 vehicles (according to CNN this morning) in Iraq that have not been armored. Ah, we don't need the armor anyway as the Iraqie people love us and are welcoming us with open arms anyway.

Frome what I have heard from the people that have just come back from Iraq,

The Iraqi people do not mind us being there,

I do think that the terrorists from Syria, Iran etc do have a problem with us though.

Poor Engineer. An Engineer and you haven't mastered that RRR FFL Math yet??? 😕

That's a surplus of 4,500 armored vehicles.

I don't get it, why are you turning on one of your own Hero's??? 😕

He's not one of my heros. The troops are the only heros I have. I voted for Bush and I'm conservative, doesn't mean I like someone that is incompetent (and no, Bush is NOT imcompetent).

Is 50.9% of the Country about to stop the Religious insanity, No

Is 50.9% of the Country about to all of a sudden abandon and turn against the Fealess Liar they would jump off a Bridge for? No

RRR FLL stands.

Us 49% of the Country are stuck for at least the next 4 years. This is what you wanted so the least you guys will have to deal with the whining unless you are successful with Brainwash treatment of said whiners.

Bottom line, you'll have to get more layers of Tin-Foil off or increase the intensity of Brainwashing until desired result.

Usually people that accuse other people of being brainwashed are the ones that are actually brainwashed. You are just as brainwashed as the people you accuse of being brainwashed. I can admit to mistakes Bush makes, can you admit to things he's done well? Nope. Your responce to that? "He hasn't done anything well".

No, notice I don't say 51% like the outcome of the Election. I say 40.9% to allow for some that that may actually not be part of the RRR but they are still a FLL.

I was thinking of editing my post and saying no sarcastic remarks either. You just proved my point, you can't say anything positive about him.

If Bush can't admit anything he has done wrong, then why should anyone admit anything positive about him? He's a legend in his own mind.

Rumsfield does need to go....as long as Wolfowitz isn't the replacement.

Yeah, how about those of us who simply voted against liberals?
