Second PSU failure

I built a basic web surfing/emailing computer for my father about four years ago, and now the second PSU has failed. Both have been antec's, this last one a basiq 350 watt I bought at circuit city to replace the first about 2 years ago. So the question is, what are some better options for a 300w power supply. The only local places to go would be best buy or staples so not many options there. I was looking at this seasonic on newegg, which is around the same price, just difficult to have him wait for it to ship. Right now I have my old silverstone 600w running but it won't fit in the case he has. Looking for any input, would like to stay around $50.

What are the system specs? Maybe the PSU's are dying because you're under-estimating? I know it's just used for web surfing, but even just web surfing, certain CPU's and GPU's use a bit of power.

specs- asrock am2 motherboard, 1 sata hdd, 1 dvd burner, cpu is an amd 3800+ socket am2, 2 sticks ddr2 512MB. There is no discrete gpu, uses onboard video and sound, I would think 300w would be enough, maybe it does need more.

Yeah.. if you're using on board graphics and an AM2, you're definitely under 300W.

Maybe the PSU is failing due to spikes it recieved? Have you considered a power conditioner or a UPS? I don't run my PCs without one.
