WTF

EDIT: Just saw this too on syllabus : April 14 (MY BDAY BTW) Video Games: Case study World of Warcraft

Looks like this Second Life is some kind of group project.
Lab: Introduction to Second Life
Lab: The Avatar, your virtual self
Lab: Second Life building basics
Lab: Second Life advanced Textures and Clothing
Lab: Second Life scripting basics

+ we have a book all about Second Life, cost me $35 🙁

Are you taking the one with a subject matter of technology?

After taking two classes that weren't in engineering that had the word technology in them my freshman year, I quickly found out that I should never, fall for that trap.

seriously, what is the title of this course? Who knows, maybe has some value....

or is this a ploy by the assistant professor to get students online and engage in nefarious "cyber activity?"

who cares what the subject is then.

Also means your destined to fail the course, becuase of lack of attention on the teacher.

This is a movement in online teaching (one that i hate). I've been to a couple conferences lately where it seems like there are more and more of these second life folks are trying to push (force) the usage of it on their students. It really serves no good purpose and half the time computer will crash or not be able to properly render the material.

If you don't like it tell the prof being "in world" gives you headaches (an actual common problem with second life due to the nature of 3d worlds). If they don't make reasonable accommodations they are in violation of the ADA 😀

One of my comp class professors brought in some second life guru for like an hour long speech and demonstration. Needless to say, that was the 1 day that I missed that class.

WTF, is this Cracker Jack college or something? I wish my classes had been that easy.
