While I was waiting in line to see the head of my major i was reading a business week. They had an article on this place. Just browsing the website, its hard to understand exactly how it all works, but it seems to cost a lot to own and build land. Its quite the money making system whoever runs this thing.

Also people can apprenlty make their own stuff..which is the big appeal. Desing your own clothes, build your own houses, make your own games with your own code, open your own business and actually make money. In the article there is a guy who says he sells animations that he makes for 1 dollar each..mkaing over 90k.

What do you guys think about this thing?

From what I gather, its basicailly a virtual world. You go in and just "live". You can buy stuff using real money. each 1 us dollar equals 300..whatever they callem.

sounds interesting. I can see how some people might get addicted to it. Might log in just to see what the fuss is all about. I still dont quite get why someone would pay 200+ for house that...is virtual..

sorry to keep adding to my own post but this seems really interesting. It appears that the majority of the content in the world is user made..pretty cool idea if you ask me.

also...there is like a crime part it like in a newspaper where it says what happend the night before. cant find it again tho...

out of sheer curiosity I created an account and played. If you can really call it playing. There's not much to it, I don't get the allure.

I got screwed in the slot machines in the game even worse than when I went to Vegas last month :p
