I don't smoke but I respect a persons right to smoke if they want to as long as it doesn't effect others.

Yeah, 100% straight on how I feel.

So how do you enforce this ban in your utopian paradise? Cameras in the homes of smokers? Or are you just going to leave it up to the children to narc on their parents?

there is a thin and blurry line btw parents acting stupid within their rights and child abuse.

personally, i am pretty heartless and the 'think of the children' argument doesnt do much for me. i would be concerned about MY OWN children, and would never consider smoking around them. as far as what other parents choose to do, while i dont agree with a LOT of what they do, i dont feel it is my obligation to try and force them to be 'good' parents.

if adults were intelligent this would not even be a discussion topic. how far do you think we should go in trying to keep people from being stupid? IMO it is a futile effort and should not even be bothered with. yes its unfortunate that a childs parents smoke around them, or smoke and drank while pregnant, or feed them bad food, or verbally abuse them, or spank them, or whatever else offends you because YOU wouldnt do that to your kid. but really its just unfortunate that people like that even exist and you just have to accept it and move on. trying to regulate stupidity or personal/home behavior is just a waste of time and money.

I'm just thankful that we have people like manlymatt to save us from ourselves.

You can do whatever you want to yourself. I couldnt care less. :)

Just don't affect others. Is it really that bad of a request?

yes, because what you propose directly affects others....i.e. taxpayers

See how are you going to enforce such an ignorant proposal? WITHOUT taxpayer dollars?

and IF this were to somehow come to pass due to the anti-smoking Nazis what would you do with all the kids that you pulled out of the homes of smokers?

where do you plan to put them...WITHOUT using taxpayer dollars?

You probably don't like the idea of taxpayer money going to religious based organizations because they do not support your beliefs and lets face it....some of their ideas are down right dangerous...no doctors?...no immunizations?

but hey if you don't like smoking it is just fine you pull money out of MY pocket to fund your ludicrous proposal which is a complete waste of time an money AND an invasion of privacy.

Well if enough people vote for it to pass. Everyone that votes agrees to have the cost deducted from their pay and or assets. The total cost including monitoring, enforcement, housing and health care of the children removed and for the parents that are incarcerated. The local, state, and feral gubberments are highly efficient at this sort of thing so the cost would only be astronomical.

Get that on the ballot and I won't oppose it.

P.S. When some brat lies and get their parents arrested the AYE voters can cover the lawsuits too.

If it isn't obvious, I'm against allowing second hand smoke in households where there are children under 18. Why is it even an issue?

The issue is privacy. But privacy never matters to you extremists. If I want to smoke a cigar what's that going to do me? Jail? Fines? A strongly worded letter?

SHS aside from smelling bad and irritating will not kill you. Trust me, if it did I would be dead. I don't like smoking or being around it--but the anti smoking zealotry is astonishing to witness. This is something that would be impossible to enforce, hell we still have idiots beating their kids and their wives. But thank god they aren't smoking!
