Seattle AT'ers...what's the best cell phone plan/deal here?

Entity

It looks like I'm about to cave. The g/f just got promoted to being the manager, more or less, of the restaurant she's been working at for a while; it also looks likely that I will be offered a full-time position doing web development, which means that I will need to be more accessible than I am right now. We're thinking about getting a family plan - something that might allow free minutes between her & I, or something along those lines, but still have enough minutes for work usage and occasional personal usage.

I've never been a cell phone person, but it's starting to seem like a better and better idea.

Are there good sites that cover the options, rebates, etc., so that I can make the most informed purchase? I'd need to be able to find out what has good coverage (across the Seattle, Western Washington, and some of Eastern Washington areas), what "minutes" actually mean (I've never researched this before), and stuff like that. I don't want to get ripped off on this, of course. 😀

thanks,
Rob

Linkage try amazon out, thats where i got my V60 from t-mobile for free with rebates and such
also many friends have got phones from them.

The most important thing to do is research the best cell phone provider in your area.

There's a lot of Seattle AT'ers here, I'd post a new thread or edit your thread title asking Seattle AT'ers which cell phone provider is the best.

i have sprint, i pay $35 a month for 650 anytime and 3k night and weekends with no long distance and unlimited vision time

i get great coverage almost everywhere.

I think something is fishy with that Hot Deal.

There's gotta be more Seattle AT'ers around here who can help Rob out.

Which is the best Seattle cell phone provider and why?

verizon

decent customer service (good for cell phone companies), great coverage, reasonable prices

i pay 35 bucks a month for 300 minutes, 2000 night and weekend, free roaming free long distance (america's choice).

Looking for a family plan, for me & Kate. What you have sounds fine. I looked on the Amazon deal for phone deals through Verizon, but didn't see anything (does Amazon partner through them?). Ideas? What phone should I go with?

I was with Verizon on their Friends and Family plan from a couple years ago. Unlimited between the two phones and 300 anytime minutes for $50/month (before taxes). That plan was absolutely perfect until my wifes job moved to Everett (we live in North Tacoma). Turns out, she likes to talk while stuck in traffic. After receiving a $497 one month and a $356 the next, I wound up switching to Sprint's 2000 anytime minutes plan for $99/month for two phones (minus 10% if you are a USAA member). Yes, it's expensive. But at least I don't have to worry about filling my boxers when I open the cellphone bill now. 😀

I had Sprint up there, payed $28 for 200 daytime, 2800 night/weekend, free long distance, but I was on some sort of corporate plan, and that deal is discontinued...

I'm getting closer. 🙂

Here's what I'm looking for:
  1. Unlimited mobile to mobile calls (between Kate and me).
  2. ~600 shared minutes (that should be enough, right?).
  3. A decent phone.

Looking at Verizon's site, it looks like their plans really suck. I can't figure out how to get a plan like that; am I just out of the Verizon market?

Ever use the service outside of Seattle? I'm wondering how decent it'd be up north (like Bellingham, La Conner), or on the east side of the mountains.
