Seasonic s12 real cheap at eWiz!

I don't believe what eWiz did is currently against the law, only unscrupulous. Bait and switch means they offered you another item to replace the sale item, which also isn't the case here.

Obviously, eWiz uses these price fluctuation to bring extra traffic to their site, something Amazon.com does daily on a much larger scale. And yes, Amazon.com is notorious for changing prices while the items are still in your cart. Many sites will also fluctuate prices based on your buying habits and customer profile, and what they think you'd be willing to pay... all perfectly legal; they call it "dynamic pricing."

Web sites change prices based on customers' habits

But when you're chasing the best deals, you shouldn't always expect things to go your way. Ultimately, it's the squeaky wheel that gets the grease, so congratulations to anyone who was able to get the powersupply for such a low price.

Did you not see my post above? ~$90 shipped?

That PS you linked to is the 500 watt version. This recent offer was about the 600 watt PS. Still an excellent price for the 500 watt if they actually ship it.

That is a really great price.

That's not just what they are doing. People, such as myself, are getting the orders placed at the discounted price, and then they are cancelling them claiming to be out of stock. In the case of the other day, they then amazingly got more in stock after raising the price. Regardless, if we got the order in at the discounted price, we should get it at that price regardless of whether or not its in stock. Our orders shoudln't just be cancelled; they should be backordered and shipped to us when they get them in stock.

If the item was in transit to you, and *then* eWiz changed the price -- and even recharged your card -- you most definitely have a case against them. But I bet eWiz's Terms and Conditions covers instances of price changes and/or cancellations even during the order period. Not that many people ever read the fine print. 🙂 Don't get me wrong, I am in no way defending the practice.

So I get a call today from Shaun @ eWiz telling me that the PSU is back in stock and they're willing to offer it to me @ the $106 price only if I remove my negative feedback on Reseller Ratings. The balls on these guys. He wasn't too happy when I started explaining "blackmail" and "illegal" to him.

sounds like Ewiz is breaking some rules

If you do a froogle.com search for "S12 500 store:ewiz", the current price on the Seasonic S12 500 PSU is: $97.00.
However, going directly to ewiz.com, the same item's price is instead: $124.00.
Other vendors (such as VitaminShoppe.com) have similar "lower pricing, only via froogle.com"

I went to Case mod site and the S-12 600 is $144.00 plus shipping. A bit more than the $106 shpped from ewiz.

After they cancelled my order and others threatened negative feedback, Ewiz sent me an email saying they would honor the $106 price as soon as stock arrived. I didn't hear anything from them today. My order still shows cancelled under my account. If they don't ship mine they will have some more negative feedback on reseller ratings.

I'm curious if they will get to the others that left them negative feedback as well. Can you report this sort of thing?

Only three of us actually left negative feedback from what I can gather.

I was talking about the 500W version 😀

the S12 are known to have problem with the DFI NF4 series motherboards. The problem seems to be when using the +5v Memory J17 jumper.
However, there is a fix for the problem that requires a slightly different jumper setting. Also, only some S12's have problems with the motherboard, not all of them.

mine works fine with the DFI board and Twinmos/Winbond UTT Ram using the +5v jumper. However, I start getting problems when I pair it up with the Ballistix Ram (This ram is also known to have compatibility problems with the DFI NF4 boards).

I might be selling mine soon (check my FS thread) if I dont figure out the solution to my problem. I seem to have the worst combo but it overclocks really well 😛

I can say that it works flawlessly with my MSI Neo4 SLI, but not with an Asus A7N8X
But I think the old Asus mobo probably was the culprit

I buy from eWiz all the time. I'm sure they only intended to sell a certain quantity at the sale price. Instead of having a 1 day say, they have a limited quantity sale. I don't see anything wrong with that, just sucks to be the one who missed out.

Also, the price is always cheaper through froogle. And going through pricewatch gives you free shipping.
