Stumbled across this...Seasonic PX-1000 platinum 1000W power supply, $234.28....in stock June 7.

I know the price is its reg. retail price, but these days, a "regular" retail price for a good power supply IS a hot deal. LOL! But how long it lasts, who knows. amazon had a Seasonic GX-750 Gold ps that sold out in minutes this afternoon....and it wasn't going to ship until the end of June.

Seasonic PX-850, Plat. 850W ps.....$191.91, Amazon

I went ahead and bought this ps.....just after I'd managed to snatch one of the Seasonic GX-750 Golds that was "in stock at the end of June"....and turns out both will ship next week.

5 year warranty would give me great pause in purchasing. I hate spending my money twice for the same thing in too short a time.
how many psu's have you ever used warranty on? for me the number is zero ;) (but for me the number of rosewill psu is also the same number zero :p ) i was tempted to buy a prime psu if it had the same cables as the review on anandtech (wow they looked pretty) but it was just for the reviewed model go figure. thnx for posting in stock psu

Three....well, only one I actually did a warranty claim with the "manufacturer." I've had three die...first was a Corsair from years ago, but while I don't remember the actual particulars (I believe it was one of the orig. HX520 units), I was impressed by Corsair's quick turn around and the replacement worked perfectly.

One was an Ultra X3 1000W unit. Was purchased used from, of all places, JonnyGuru's website...it was a test unit. Failed in 6 months after I bought it. Shoulda known. C'est la vie. Would have warrantied it, but no warranty.

The third was an Antec Signature 850. Died on initial power up in a new build. Turned it on, it powered up, then it just shut off and never responded to anything ever again. Completely dead. Fortunately, I'd purchased it from Microcenter, so it went right back to the store and got exchanged for something "better." Didn't have to go the warranty claim route, but would have in an instant if I'd been outside my 30 day return window.

Stuff happens. Then again, I've owned a few dozen power supplies over the years...so I figure after you buy bunches of ps's over the years, you'll eventually end up with a ps that's either an immediate dud or one that suffers a premature failure.

Now, I've replaced numerous cheapies for other people...assisted on warranty claims when they wanted to waste their time doing so....otherwise, replaced them with units of more substantial quality.
