I'm trying to find out if anyone knows how many days you have to return a computer (desktop or laptop) to sears. I have talked to 4 different sears stores and the online store and got 5 different answers!! Here is what i was told:

1) there is no set number of days you have to return a computer...it can be ANYTIME
2) within 30 days
3) within 60 days
4) within 90 days
5) it depends on what the manufacturer warranty says...if it says one year, you have one year to return it to sears....if it says 2 years, you have 2 years to return it to sears...etc.

Sears has NO information about this at any store i've been to and it's not stated at the online site. I asked all 5 of the sears stores above if i can have a printout or copy of sears' official policy and they ALL said they cannot give this out to customers because it's against their policy! I can't for the life of me understand why i can't get a straight answer and why i can't get a copy of the policy....if there even is one. Does anyone have any concrete answer to this? thanks for the help!

As far as I remember their return policy is "return it within a reasonable amount of time".

Hmmm...just as i thought. There is NO specific number of days in their policy. This explains why i have been told 5 different things!!

This is what the sears website says:
Satisfaction Guaranteed
"Satisfaction Guaranteed or Your Money Back". Sears has always stood behind our products. This pledge applies to any products purchased on our website.
Returns/Exchanges
All merchandise, except gift cards, can be returned in the original packaging materials. Note that shipping and delivery charges are not refundable.

There is not even a mention about returning "in a reasonable amount of time". Nothing!

I think I still have a lawn mower purchased from them about 10 years ago that has rusted. I should still have the receipt in my bag O receipts. We'll see how good they are at returns.

OK...i finally got an emai from the Sears online site. THis is what the email said:

Thank you for contacting Sears Online.

Our "Satisfaction Guaranteed or Your Money Back" policy states that, if for
any reason a customer is not satisfied with any purchase from Sears, the
customer may return it within a reasonable period of time from the date of
purchase for a full refund or exchange.

A reasonable time period is one that is sufficiently long enough for the
customer to become familiar with the merchandise or service involved. The
appropriate time for each customer depends on the circumstances of each
individual transaction, such as the type of merchandise, degree of use, etc."

This sounds pretty vague to me!

You could keep returning your computer indefitely and never have to upgrade again.

I worked for a Sears in Fargo, ND. Our return policy was 30 days. However, we were supposed to be able to do a no receipt exchange ( for Sears Gift Card at any time)They can look up your receipt on your sears card. I would recommend asking a sales manager what the return limit is. We were 30 days, but YMMV.
Good luck.
