I used to work at sears and unless something has changed. There is no hard timeframe on returns.

On the back on receipts it says a "reasonable" amount of time.

The good friend that made my apply at Sears told me it's 30 days for TVs.

I don't see how's he's ripping you off. He's giving you back what you paid for it. Pay for the better TV.

but that doesnt make up for the fact that sold me a crappy TV
that took time and effort out of my day, if i had known i was getting a lemon i would have bought a different TV on that day and got a different deal somewhere else. i work in customer service, at a hotel, this is not how you keep customers....

Get the sand out of your vagina, Mary. You didn't buy a service plan and it is well over a month since you bought the item, you should be SOL. The Sears employee is being quite fair with you. Take it up with Toshiba.

Sears didn't sell you a crappy TV. You bought a crappy Toshiba TV. Sears is more than fair offering to refund your money. If you have problem with your Toshiba TV after 30 days or what ever their return policy is, take it up with the manufacture. I am sure Sears will miss you.

When you compare Sears to a hotel it's like comparing apples to oranges.

Since when is Sears a hotel?

i dont expect them to do more, but i bought a TV and i should get a TV. Im willing to take another TV. but they cant get it. now they should do something to compensate for that. its basic customer service

you can buy lots of tvs for $800.

I don't see why you are expecting to make money off this, I mean, if that was the case people would be buying discounted, discontinued items and breaking them all the time.

there is a 1 year manufacturer warranty

What is Toshiba's response?

We all know that sucks. Why do you think cell phone companies offer their own warranties? Dealing with companies like Moto and SE = hell.

My friend had a Toshiba rear projection...Toshiba had it fixed within a few days when it went out.

My god you have to be joking. They did not sell you a lemon. Given that you've had it for over a month and your excessive whining, I'm thinking you did something to cause it to break down.

They did not sell you a crappy tv. You broke your tv and now you want to practically steal from Sears by demanding they give you a much more expensive tv for the same price.

i had to wait in the freezing ass cold over night, to get a TV that was a killer deal. i had to carry the SOB up 3 flights of stairs. i think i deserve something more then
"sorry heres your money back and no chance of getting a TV like this for this price"
go to a hotel and find a condom in your room, im sure they will do more then just comp your room.

sears goes to toshiba if the TV cant be repaired

Sears is not obligated to do anything just because you chose to stay in freezing cold. Suck it up and wait.

Don't equate this guy with his whole generation, his "heros" are all from your generation old man.

awww, the parody got locked. Oh well.

But, hey, it did get a thumbsup and a "good parody"
And, NO 0/10's 🙂

yeah it was a good one, highlighted the absuridy of the OP...

Sorry OP, it was your choice to buy the tv, should have checked if it was a discontinued model or not. I think the full refund is fair. They're already trying to compensate you, but truthfully it wasn't Sears's error.

When my parents were replacing the range in the kitchen, they originally bought a kithen aid model which didnt have a working oven, sears replaced it with the last of that model that they had in stock and the glass on top and in the oven door were both cracked.

After going back and forth several times, they eventually met us halfway and we paid half the difference on a ge range that was actually quite a step up.

  • According to the National Election Study, only 18 percent of voters under 30 called themselves Republicans in 2000, compared with 35 percent of voters aged 30 to 39...

I used to work at Sears

The only advice I can give is DO NOT SHOP AT SEARS. Their products are badly overpriced, and I'm surprised you managed to find a good deal on a TV 😵

It's just a big TV, you don't really need it. Wait for next year 🙂

What the hell are you bitching about?

You have ZERO grounds.

He gives you two options:

1.) Refund for purchase price

2.) Repair

You want the TV right? The go with option 2. It's going to take 3 weeks? That's a bummer, but it's not a "ridiculous" amount to wait or anything like that.

If you don't want to wait go with option 1.

I don't see how you can justify EXPECTING something more when there is nothing more to give. They are giving you great customer service by giving you the two options.

It sucks that the TV broke, but they are willing to fix it. TV's break, it happens.

It's sounds like you need to work on some maturity issues.

as for bitching to get a reduced price, their cost on the TV may have gone up 500 bucks or so

no matter how much you bitch they will NEVER sell it to you below their cost

Man, I stopped shopping at Sears a couple years ago. Fridge broke DAYS after the 1 year warranty expired....top of the line Kenmore Elite. Happened to other people in the exact same manner.

No concessions, no nothing. I wouldn't have expected much except that this is their own brand. Hey, congrats, they screwed me over. :golfclap; But I'm never buying a thing from that store ever again.

I will never shop at Sears either.... They flat out stink in customer service
