so i bought a TV from sears and it broke 4 weeks later, the earliest i can get a repairmen out here is 3 weeks from now.

the operations manager gave me 2 options, refund, or wait 3 weeks.
i got the TV after thanksgiving, it goes for 800 dollars more now, there is now way
im going to be able to get that deal. the TV is backordered and discontinued
so they cant just replace it

he said he cant credit another TV at a discounted rate with the money i have already spent. he said i have those 2 options and nothing else
this is rediculous.

so sears employees what do i need to say to get a new TV. im even willing to pay a little more, 100-250 for a better TV??

BTW its a toshiba 51hc85 51 inch hidef monitor

hm. When I worked for K-mart (same company now I guess), if you bitched enough to the store manager and we had any in stock, we'd exchange it. Did you buy a warranty plan or anything like that?

Offering a refund after 4 weeks sounds pretty reasonable to me. Take the refund or call Toshiba.

If you got it immediately after Thanksgiving, it has been more than 4 weeks...

If it broke in only four weeks I would return it myself. Wouldn't want to wait on for repairs every few monthes especially with only a one year warrenty.

i had to wait in the freezing ass cold over night, to get a TV that was a killer deal. i had to carry the SOB up 3 flights of stairs. i think i deserve something more then
"sorry heres your money back and no chance of getting a TV like this for this price"
go to a hotel and find a condom in your room, im sure they will do more then just comp your room.

sears goes to toshiba if the TV cant be repaired

I'm not going to turn this into a flame war but that's more of a personal problem and not Sears'.

Quit your bitchin'

How can you seriously expect them to do more than what you paid for it😕 You are one of those strange ones arent you?

i dont expect them to do more, but i bought a TV and i should get a TV. Im willing to take another TV. but they cant get it. now they should do something to compensate for that. its basic customer service

You bought the TV for a killer deal knowing that they wouldn't be able to replace it if something happened (discontinued)

Man, I stopped shopping at Sears a couple years ago. Fridge broke DAYS after the 1 year warranty expired....top of the line Kenmore Elite. Happened to other people in the exact same manner.

No concessions, no nothing. I wouldn't have expected much except that this is their own brand. Hey, congrats, they screwed me over. :golfclap; But I'm never buying a thing from that store ever again.

Damn I was going to by that Sony V1 ornery kept spouting off about.. but now I guess that won't be happening anymore. 😉

I think you're being unreasonable. You were offered a full refund already. If they had another set they'd replace it, but they don't have any. You think doing more than that is required for "basic customer service"?

Reminds me of the ladies I see on another board who spend six weeks fighting with a store over a $3 rebate, demanding a rain check for something advertised as "quantities limited", etc. etc. When they don't get what they want, they vow never to shop at the store again...they do that so much, I don't know if there are any places left for them to shop at.

And why aren't you dealing with Toshiba for the repair?

I am speculating it was the toshiba HD 34 incher correct? If so, you should have done your research and found that it was a POS with many many problems and that Toshiba does not make it, Orion does.

I almost bought one, but spent the extra on the sony and got an extended warranty from sears.

1. It is NOT Sears' responsibility to repair your TV, unless you bought an extended warranty. By dealing with Toshiba and the repair company for you, they are doing you a favor.

2. You are NOT entitled to more than you paid, they do not have to discount some other TV to save you money, that's not how refunds work. You can't walk into a store, buy something on sale, come back when it's not on sale, and profit.

3. If it's that awesome of a TV, wait for the repairman or bug them to get you another TV from another store, chances are there's one out there somewhere. You may have to wait a few weeks, but if it's worth it to you then deal, it's a free repair or replacement, only costs you time.

4. Refund it, pay more for a different one, and stop whining. If you don't like that answer, feel free to call Toshiba yourself, and deal with them on the repair issue, it'll be way more of a hassle than what you're currently going through.

Get the refund
Add some more money
Get a new set

No Brainer.....
Some "Hot deals" do go sour, it's the chance you take.

i think the employee is doing all he can for you. never buy an extended warrantee ever from them. its a scam, their repair service is why its a scam. its like they say you can get it repaired if anything goes wrong for free. so now your dealing with the service.

after 3 weeks of waiting we will see if they actually get someone out there or if you get put further on the back shelf because the guy doesnt show up so now they got to get a whole different guy to do it. plan on 5 weeks pal.
my g/fs mom has worked in sears for over 20 years

I don't understand what you want them to do? You took advantage of a sale and you didn't even bother to pay for the extended warranty. If you got it immediately after Thanksgiving (aka black friday), then you're well past the return date (30 days usually/4 weeks). You're lucky that he's even offering a refund. Stop whining about it.

I used to work at sears and unless something has changed. There is no hard timeframe on returns.

On the back on receipts it says a "reasonable" amount of time.

wow the one time i had a prob like that at sears it was with a CD Deck for my car....returned it for a replacement, they didnt have any replacements in stock, so they were like pick out a replacement so i went and got one for the sale price it was purcahsed for. The guy was like wtf...no you dont have to do that...they gave me the current retail price + $50 to play with any deck in stock. So instead of a $100 deck i got a $200 deck 😀 since then i have loved sears
