UPDATE:
For everyone that doesn't know, Sears Corporate Office said that stores must honor this price! I just got off the phone and they said they will honor this price until 11/11 for customers who question the ad. Rainchecks will *NOT* be honored so if your store is OOS then forget it.

ok I just got back from work (sears) i think we had about 15 people come in asking about it. Our store was sold out by 12 noon. The managers here are pretty good guys, they honored the price change without even making a peep. I had my gf come grab one for me. If you didnt get yours by today, it might be too late. Here is what our sign said at the store.

"A sears newspaper insert that appeared nationwide today (dated Nov. 7 - Nov. 11) has inadvertenly created confusion for our customers. On page 8 of the ad, we advertise a Koss DVD player for $34.99 (model 57133) and a Sony DVD/VCR dual deck for $179.99 (model 57463) before in-store savings.

Confusion resulted from the way prices appeared in the ad. The sony DVD/VCR was not intended to be sold for $34.99. While supplies last, as a goodwill offer to our customers, Sears is selling the Sony DVD/VCR dual deck (model 57463) for $34.99 (while supplies last - one per customer).

A retraction will appear in newspapers this weekend. We apologize for the inconvenience this error has caused our customers".

I gotta say in allthis mess it looks like sears is really trying to honor a rather substantial (per item) mistake - that is rather unusual these days...

I did not say in my post that I didn't think they should honor it. In fact, I am glad they are, hope I can get in on one. I would not have been surprised or unhappy with them if they did not, though. Disappointed, yes, but not mad at them.

Good luck getting one, everyone.

Problem is that by now any remaining stock has probably been sucked up by employees or their relatives...

Good luck

But my local Sears CSR told me it was discontinued and they wouldn't get anymore in. Don't tell me he lied to me.

Just a FYI: they are having this same unit in their Black Friday ad for the $179.99 "correct" price.

UPDATE #2:
Supposedly, Sears is running a Disclaimer in Today's paper which specifically states they will sell this unit for $34.99 to clear up confusion. It also states that this only applies to stores with the unit in STOCK and that it is ONE per Customer.

I just when in to my Sears this morning and picked one up. The Manager started trying to tell me the same BS that the sales associate tried to tell me last night, but I cut him off in mid-sentence and told him that I called Corporate and they said to do it. He stopped right there because he knew he was wrong and said... "ok, if corporate said so...". While I was checking out, he even ran up to me to show me the updated memo and tell me that it was in today's paper. I asked him why he was so forthcoming with info now and said that he was "trying to tell me this earlier..." ...yeah, right... that's why the first thing out of his mouth before I cut him off was "We can't do that..."

Oh great! And when you put them all up on eBay could you tell us too? It's just so GREAT to hear when someone can buy up all the stock for eBay. It really warms the hearts of everyone on this board. We are just so SOOOO happy for you.

I just got one from the store in Chattanooga, TN! I initially went to the store and spoke with the manager, but he only offered to give me a $10 discount. I went home and called the corporate office (don't know if I can give the number, but it was on their website under contact info for "Compliments and Concerns with Our Stores") and the lady I spoke with said that they MUST honor the price, and if there was any problem to have the manager call the corporate number I had called to confirm it. I went back to the store and told a rather rude employee that I needed to see the manager because I had called corporate and confirmed that the price was to be honored. He came back a few minutes later and said that he would get my name and number and they would call me tomorrow if they decided to honor it. I told him that I would be working all day and asked to see the manager in person. When I spoke to the manager, I gave him the phone # for corporate and told him to call them. He came back a few minutes later and told the employee to get my name, number, address and drivers license #, as it was to be only 1 per household. With tax, I got it for less than $40. So remember, if you are assertive and persistent you will get a great deal.

I called the complaint line. The person I spoke to said that the stores were honoring the 34.99 on friday and saturday. But today the retraction was nationwide and that the stores no longer had to honor the price. I tried to buy it yesterday and the guy said no dice... Oh Well. Good luck to others.

Sears Correction Notice:

In the Friday 11/07 Sears Preprint on page 8 and the Sunday 11/09 Sears Preprint on page 4, we advertised the Koss DVD player at $34.99 and the Sony Duel Deck 57463 at $179.99. The sale price of the Sony Duel Deck 57463 is $170.99. Unfortunately, we cannot honor requests to sell the Sony Duel Deck 57463 at $34.99. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our customers.

Tried the Sears store at Willowbrook Mall in Houston this a.m. Sales people told me they were out of stock and that no other Sears store in Houston has these Sony's any longer...WTF!!! all of HOUSTON...they reported that they were even out of the Koss DVD's...guess I'll wait a few days and go back when they are in stock ;) (or until they take them out of hiding in the back room)...Congrats to those who were able to get on this awesome deal and better luck to the rest of us!!!

Not me dude! These are easy Christmas gifts, and if anything, I would feed the AT folks, not the eBayers.

Im sorry but anyone who argues for Sears should not only be shot, but they should never ever post in this forum, people who are against hot deals don't belong here. This forum is for hot deals (only), hell even hot deals on stuff that fell off the back of a truck. So those of you with morals and or an IQ that exceeds the majority , should leave and not disrupt our bitchfest about deals we know we'll never get. Just my .02 cents. BTW I just had some jerk that works for Sears tell me the entire nation was sold out. After asking for a rain check he fed me this huge line of bull. Another reason to black list sears.

Yay, I got one!

I went to my local Sears, after reading this thread, figuring that I was wasting my time. When I got there, I found the disclaimer posted above the display model.

With my hopes shattered, I was going to leave until my girlfriend prodded me into asking the sales clerk. He told me that as stated in the disclaimer, they could not honor the price. I told him that I had called the Sears corporate number (which I did), then he told me that they were sold out, and wouldn't be getting any more in. So, my girlfriend asked him to sell us the floor model, which looked to be in excellent shape. He then had to go speak with a manager.

When he returned, he tried to dissuade us by telling us that the display unit would have no remote control, instructions, or cables. We told him we'd take it anyhow. After all, for $34.99 I'll go buy a universal remote. He went to check with management again, and came back with a bag containing the accessories, and UPC code/serial number (for warranty purposes), which he said he had surprisingly found.

In a nutshell, I got a display model Sony DVD/VCR for $34.99 plus tax. Not too shabby. Hope this works for someone else.
