Sears front-end alignment question

A few months ago I bought 4 new tires from Sears. It's been about 6k miles since I had them put on, and got an alignment back when I had the new tires installed. Last night my friend was driving my car home from a party (he wasn't drinking), it was foggy and there was some black ice, well we are on the onramp to get on the freeway at about 2am, we're on a straightaway and he doesn't see the curve coming up ahead, he cuts the wheel to the right, locks up the tires, we go straight over the curb and onto the off ramp on the other side of the road. It's hard to explain, but it was pretty scary, good thing nobody was coming on the other side. Good thing there wasn't a guard rail or a light post or something, or it could've been much more serious. Anyhow, the car seems fine, but I figure that something has to have been knocked out in the alignment. I'm not sure if I remember correctly, but I thought Sears will do a free alignment up to 6 months after the purchase of the tires? Anyone know? If not I'll just pay for the alignment, but it would be nice if it was covered!

Just go have it checked under the free alignment deal. Don't tell them you hit anything just yet, that gives some of the advisors a green light to start recommending stuff you might not need. They will try to align it. If they can't get it within specs(yes this is in fact very likely, your car hit a curb with the wheels turned and the brakes locked) then get it out of there and take it to a real mechanic that you can trust with major suspension work for a second opinion.

Good Luck.

Could always phone and ask Sears.
