So every now-n-then I see these awesome Sears deals in slickdeals, yesterday I found this lopper for 15 bucks, that I really needed, so I decide to go for it. Once I checked out, I receive an email saying that I don’t have to go inside the store, I can just do a drive through pickup! and I am thinking, OK, that could be cool but probably the wait and the process must be sucky, then I keep reading and it says that if I have to wait for more than 5 minutes I will get a $5 coupon and I am like, wow, that awesome! So I read on about the process and it seems I just have to download this app, login with my sears ID, and once I reach the location just click I am ready for pickup. So I decide to give it a try, I drive up, the app, using my location says I am at sears, so I click on that and it pulls up the order that is ready for pickup in that location, and asks if I am ready? I say yes and it starts a 5 minute countdown. In less than 2 minutes this guy shows up with my lopper, checks my receipt and hands it over, easy as a breeze... It was the best online shopping- store pickup experience I had. Compared to Home Depot or Lowes it was miles better. There sometimes I have to wait for several minutes for the service desk person to be available as they might be helping others, then they will go looking for it, sometimes they can’t even find my package right away. Then once I was stopped at the door asking for "pickup receipt”, I had to go back to the customer service desk, wait for my turn for another 10 minutes, and THEN I was able to leave...

Bottom line, next time I need a store pickup, I am looking it up on Sears’s site too to price compare. It’s a little bit longer drive but I might do it a couple more times before I get bored. Good job Sears, you earned my business for now.

Yeah, I saw that option the last time I was checking out, but decided to use my SYWR membership to get the free expedited shipping instead of driving 25 minutes to my nearest Sears.

Shop Your Way rewards keeps giving me about $8 in points each week to spend at Sears, so I keep picking up Craftsman items for virtually free. We all know Kmart is essentially dead (if you've visited one in recent years), but SHLD can't be long for this world.

I've used the drive through pickup once, a few weeks ago. Bought a new low profile jack and a set of jack stands. Got to Sears, initiated pickup on the app. An in-app 5 minute countdown timer started, and said I'd have my stuff within that time.

Right around 4 and a half minutes, a dude comes out with my stuff. All he needed to see was my ID and my CC to verify last 4 digits. I was in the pick up parking spot for maybe 6 minutes total.

10/10 would use again.

i like how you can get all you receipts emailed to you. most of their stuff is overpriced though. if you ever need to cash out on points i think you can buy gift cards near the register. they sell amazon ones.

I know when you go to regular pickup they are known to stop the counter to avoid the performance report issues and giving out coupon. Then they show up with the product if and when they feel like it.

I think Eddie Lampert is doing the job quite well on his own.

Generations of business school students will study how billionaire Eddie Lampert sent Sears Holdings (SHLD), a once-venerable retailer, toward financial oblivion. A recent Bloomberg Businessweek article would be a good place for them to start.

The story paints a depressing picture of life at the company. It argues that Lampert has created a dysfunctional culture in which business units are forced to fight among themselves -- "Hunger Games"-style -- for corporate resources. Lampert seems to be trying to implement the ideas of "rational self-interest" espoused by the philosopher Ayn Rand.

But the reality is that chaos breeds more chaos. To say that Sears is self-destructing doesn't adequately encompass how badly Lampert has messed up the retailer, whose roots date back more than a century.

It's hard to figure where to start. For one thing, Lampert is hardly ever at Sears headquarters. Businessweek says he "hates to fly" and bothers to show up only once or twice a year.

He also thinks all his ideas are brilliant, such as creating a little-used private social network and then establishing an account under a pseudonym that he subsequently used to pick fights with employees. The one inescapable conclusion to be drawn from Businessweek's account is that Lampert doesn't just have a huge ego, he has a titanic one, even for a hedge fund tycoon.
