4690K sounds like massive overkill for the tasks listed, but it's a good value. OP could get away with spending half as much on a CPU, and use a cheaper H97, or even B85/H81-based motherboard.
I wouldn't doubt that, either. It boils down partly to what you say there given his listed intentions, and budget priorities.
If he just "needs" a computer and wants to spend no more than necessary, we can look at price differences of $10 to $100+ in each item. If he "wants" to build a computer for "unforeseen needs and wants," it might be less important to pinch pennies.
What, for instance, is the difference in a non-K quad-core Haswell and the 4690K he's looking at? It looks like it might be $50. And the motherboard: a budget Z97 board like an ASUS Z97-A, Gigabyte or AsRock would run between $100 and $140 (ASUS). There's an H97 board priced as low as $70.
OP will probably come back responding to our remarks. We'll probably both be interested in his thoughts about the money and his desires.
Truth is, Yuriman also had a valid point about an i3 processor, and certainly Minecraft is not to be compared to this "Witcher" thing or other more hardware-demanding games.
Heck! For Skype and mostly business apps, I can use a 2007 Centrino-Duo laptop with a wireless connection!
