C'mon guys. You act like opening this is like asking a woman out or something. I ran it but not sure how useful it is as it didn't like wildcards and threw a runtime error.

Chickens are what idiots call the well-informed.

Not that I am calling you that. I am not. My point is, to question my discretion for not downloading some 'random exe' file is simply ignorant in this day and age.

It's not the most robust utility ever created, but if you have a large drive and lots of files to search through, it sure beats the hell out of Windows built in search.

Thanks for trying it out, btw 🙂

Um, yeah. Will change all bytes' first bit to 0, thereby rendering all data useless. Or, you could win a free trip to the Bahamas.

Live and learn by crash and burn. 😛

At least the PC won't bring you down if it crashes. If this system gets hosed it can be restored literally with a reboot. I can understand your (fears) if your pc is important, you have no backups and reloading would be a major pita etc. Of course everyone on here can fix anything, right? 😉

Explain yourself. Only an idiot would run an unleared exe off the web, and only a moron would post one without explaining himself and subjecting themself to severe probing:|*

*that came out sounding nasty:laugh:

Yup.

I LIKED it! 😉

I just downloaded it. Symantec Antivirus didn't alert me so it doesn't seem to be a virus, but I won't be opening it. lol

A homebrew program designed to do nefarious things probably wouldn't show up 😛

any program that only looks for known virus signatures wouldn't have a clue about a brand newly written program

Yeah, my stuff is backed up to hell and back, but that isn't the point. I have a lot of data that if lost would be a PITA, such as recorded TV shows and such. Restoring hte backups would take some time too....restoring an 80GB music library isn't eactly instant you know.

which is the main flaw of most IPS/IDS systems....🙁

Thoughts on the program?

I only ran one search. It found the file very quickly, but I don't have many files on this machine. Maybe someone with a really crowded drive can screw up the courage to try it.

The part that really sucks is if the program doesn't appear to do anything suspicious, then you don't really know if the program contained a payload that might be running and stealing your information, but is hidden from even task manager. Maybe I'm just paranoid.

All said, I am jsut being a prick jsut to let you know that posting a random exe is a big no no.

At least make a nice fancy fake web 2.0 page promoting it before you do😛
