Search Problem - New Topics

I noticed this as well. I usually find replies to my posts by searching for my name, which brings up all threads where a user has quoted me.
I noticed yesterday that it doesn't seem to be working for newer threads. Is this indicative of imminent switch to vB, or another failure of FuseTalk?

It would be nice if we could get a heads-up on any changes before they happen, or if we could get a status update on exactly when we can expect to see the vB switch take place. I'm addressing this mainly to the admin(s), not the regular mods who I know have their hands tied when it comes to the forum software.

Not even the Moderators are informed of any changes being made to the site by support people w/ regards to FT.
We only know if something breaks.

And it is very posible, that things break without anyone touching it. (Not Logical, but given FT, everything that is not logical for S/W has been seen using this monster.)

We have heard promises of vB and everytime the date comes and goes.

Sadly, I have given up ever seeing vB . Its easier that way.
As I remember, The original target date was Jan 2009.
 
So no input on the search problem? Kind of makes it hard to sell if your new topic doesn't show up in searches. 🙁
 
Actually search broken completely ruins the forums. Old topics just disappear and no one can bump them back up because they can't find it. Took me 10 minutes to find that group lotto thread to find out what happened. Google didn't help much.

Basically if you posted something and it gets brushed aside, usually your chances of getting a resposne are still good, but wtihout search your chances are pretty much nil

No one what? The only one who can fix the problem itself is the administrator of the forum, and we really can't count on that happening. Your best bet right now is to use Google search with "site:anandtech.com" appended to your search query.
 
There are only two people with confirmed real power, and they are Anand (owner) and DerekWilson (supposed forum administrator) (there is that admin who posted something about vB coming "soon" but I've never seen that guy before or since). If you have an email for either, I suggest writing an email and linking these forums and all the posts/threads with issues concerning FuseTalk.
I'll try and do the same.
