Yup, where's the "Search" button. Check out Techimo.com to see what's useful on the button bar at the top of each page. I'd suggest "Forums" (goes to the top index of the forums pages) and "Search"

Search has been turned off, it needs fixing. It might not be working for another 24-48 hours. It was part of the reason why the forums were running slow.

AT doesn't have much luck with the search function, it seems. 😀

I guess too many people searching at once may have slowed the forums down and takes in more CPU usage on the server. I wish there was a way to regulate that.

Aw, hope it gets fixed in the next few days. It's like impossible to find topics you've posted in otherwise.

edit: balls I was hoping no one else was using this avatar

View Post Thanks a lot for fixing it. By the way, is there a way to search specific word within a certain thread?
Ctrl-F

I used to the "print" function in FT which would put an entire thread (no matter how many posts or pages) on one page and then ctrl-f.

I didn't do it often, but in vB it's not possible at all as it seems 100 posts per page is maximum in any view. I think I have seen vB search plugins for the thread level though.

OK, I have our speedy search server up and running. It checks for new content every 5 minutes. Let me know what you think. There will be some quirks and things with this, but the basics work.

Doesn't appear to be working correctly. Example - in the FS/FT forum I goto search function at the top, type in something like wtb or wtb: and I get a message "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms. %1$s" . I tried putting my query in quotes as well (like we used to have to for number searches on FT used to be) and kept taking me to the advanced query with no results message. Normal or Advanced query gave no results for FS, FS:, wtb, or wtb:

I tried searching for some random word like inspiron and that gave results.

Puzzled...

Nope - still not working. In the FS/FT forum I goto search function at the top, type in something like wtb or wtb: and I get a message to maybe try adding %1$s to my query since there were no results. I tried putting it in quotes as well and kept taking me to the advanced query with no results.

I said there are quirks 🙂 Right now there is a 4 character minimum. I know there are many three characters terms in our jargon, so once I'm comfortable thats its working OK, I'll update the search engine to include three character words.

General forums search (advanced) just worked for me - thanks. found a thread I thought I had lost.

I edited and updated my post while you quoted my original - hehe. Anyhow so searching for something like FS or FT or WTB - which are common post titles - won't work. FS/T or FS/FT or WTB: aren't considered 4 character queries? They don't work as of now. WTTF does though - ack.

Oh mah god a working search engine...I can't believe we went without a good one for so long. Thanks for it. Forums are looking slick.

I goto advanced search and do a search for term like q6600 and select FS/FT forum. The results aren't in order of most recent post date - which is the default setting for the advanced search function.

I use the search this forum link for a term like q6600 - the results aren't in by most recent post date - they're closer the the old FT but still not sorted by date by default.

Edited for clarity.

Search results seems like FT to me - do a word search for Apacer in FS/FT forum - why the heck are posts from 2007 ahead of more recent posts? What is the crieteria for result postings if it's not by date? The results seem so random.

I realize there will be growing pains. Thanks.🙂
