Search Modifications

Search is definitely messed up Jason. I made a thread about the Tyco ruling and when I search for "tyco," I don't receive any results. Same goes for "prison break." Both threads were made today, any coincidence? 😕
 
Quick search for Seagate in Hot Deals doesn't show any of the three threads currently on the front page with Seagate in the title. Advanced search for Seagate in the title in Hot Deals in the last 3 days gives no results. I can't find a thread I started yesterday about TiVo in Hot Deasl no matter how I search. 🙁
 
It's still messed up, a thread by Codegen about rodents is currently on the first page, but if you search for "rodents" no results are found. 😕 Any ETA Jason?
 
The search is still not working for me. I had a thread titled "I really want this car" yet when I search for car it's no where to be found. I'm pretty sure it wasn't deleted.
 
Yep, it's definitely broken Jason. I did a search for "Rita" as in Hurricane Rita and came up with nothing. I know there are at least 2 or 3 threads containing Rita in their title.

You gave us this thread for posting search problems. We're posting search problems. Boy do we have search problems! Is anyone reading them? Is anyone doing anything about them? Could someone take a couple of minutes out of their busy day (busy working on the search problems, I hope 🙂) to drop us a quick note as to what is going on? This is REALLY frustrating. Thanks!

Yep i'm looking into it when i have some time, i have a fair bit on going right now that takes priority 🙂

I have not forgotten.
 
Just a note though, dont post a thread and expect to find it seconds after posting.... this is a full text index after all not live data 😉 It indexes over time.

Stuff from 4 and more days ago doesn't show up.

Example 1:
Advanced search
words: tiVo
category: Hot Deals
search what: either title and summary or title or body
messages posted in the last 10 days

results do not show this thread posted 9/18: TiVo 40hr FREE AR CompUSA

Simple search in Hot Deals for "tiVo" does not show this thread.

Example 2:
Advanced search
words: opera
category: off topic
search what: titles and summary
messages posted in the last 10 days

results show 2 threads about Phantom of the Opera

results do not show:
Opera is now free from 9/20
opera free permanently! from 9/20
Opera is no longer licensed software

Simple search in Off Topic for "opera" does not bring up any of these threads.

Currently I can't rely on the search function at all.


 
yea still broken. search results are partial. like with battlestar galactica search. most recent thread on it not by me cannot be found with search. i couldnt find lost either
 
Jason, i dont know if this is related, but when i search using the author field, like for myself, it just brings up all of the threads that i have posted in, not the ones that i have created myself 😕
