Search Modifications

I just threw in a update that fixes some of the search issues, namely author search on 2 characters and archive searching. I also threw in a feature for those that prefer date based ordering, once you click sort by date in search and do a search it will remember it and always order by date.

Let me know if there are any further issues.

Yes! TY so much! 😀

I never could search for my own posts, since my name is two characters.

TY 😀

I thought that Hot Deals quick search results were supposed to be in order by date. (Or is my memory failing?) If it's supposed to be that way, it isn't working any more. Would it be possible to get it back?

Search by "Any of these words" seems to be broken.

I usually search the for sale forum to look for apple/mac stuff.
I go to advanced search, select the for sale forum from the list.
Click on order by date (don't need to do this everytime now! woot! Thanks Jason).
then in the textbox for "Any of these words" i put in a string like this:

apple mac ibook powerbook imac powermac

then click search. Now it always fails to find matches.

Thanks in advance.

when using the quick search at the top of one of the forums I'm getting an error message. I tried it on a couple different forums and all of them I tried are doing it.

edit: tried the main search and it's doing it as well. I'm using firefox.

In FS/T I never had an issue before, but now it seems that quick search is defaulting to sorting by posts rather than date, and reverting back to that even after I select sort by date in advanced search

I was just coming back to report the "Quick Search" on the top of a forum page is not ordering by date anymore.
Looks like Vertigo saw it first.

Thanks

Same with me, I have been unable to search for the last few days...

And the funny thing is I can't find my own FS thread...

I resolved my search issue (which was only present in Firefox) by resetting some things in Firefox's about:config page..

other search problems thread

edit: link fixed.. For me, I reset an option dealing with Firefox's sending of referer information (network.http.sendRefererHeader); people using Norton have disabled it's referer-blocking feature.

A big one: A feature that allows you to search for threads only created by you. There is none and My Forums does not display only ones you have made.

I'm having the same problem. Even if I put in one word -- say "AVI" -- I get no results, but if I put it into "All of these words" I get plenty of results.
