I got a recommendation for ccleaner right here in Anandtech forums within the last day. I just did a search on all current messages in all forums on the word "ccleaner" and came up with nothing. Surely something is amiss. How does the search work?

SEARCH ONLY WORKS ON TITLE AND SUMMARY.
Given that, I still didn't find it. Is ccleaner in the title or summary?

Note to Mods/Admin: FIX THIS ALREADY!

It's being looked at but is out of our hands.

The search function clearly says that the default search is in title AND body. It's not working.

Follow the link. In this case, the word ccleaner is in the body, not the title or summary. However, the advanced search page clearly says it should find posts where it's in the body.

It's very much in the interests of the forums to get this working. I'm sure there are discussions of ccleaner in the forums, but being unable to find them I am motivated to start yet another thread when it's probably not necessary. Maybe I'll start using www.boardtracker.com to search Anandtech Forums! Currently I only use that for www.rottentomatoes.com forums.

Om, so I'm not crazy! Thanks! Funny thing is sometimes the searches work pretty OK. I don't know why it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. I'm going to try Boardtracker with these forums (on ccleaner).

in short, the full text indexer is broken. so what this means is

for posts that were made BEFORE the day it broke, all search modes work
for posts after, only title/summary search work

I know this forum is free and all but still it's a bit ridiculous to have a broken search for so long. currently when I want to find some REAL information about some equipment/software, instead of just neffing, I go to other forums so I can use the search there.

There is a way to use Google to search AnandTech too. I couldn't find it in a search here.

Boardtracker is the only external forum search engine I've used. Seems to work OK.

Frinstance: Search on ccleaner

Damn! That doesn't pull stuff from Anandtech Forums!

Google: keyword site:forums.anandtech.com

If the links are broken, copy the link shown in text under the result and add &arctab=y to the URL to access it through the AT forum archive.
