alot of it is because Cartridges use to sell out due to suppliers producing less than the market demanded becvause they were so damn expensive to manufacture. Considering how easy it is to replicate a CD, I doubt any PS1 games will really become collectors items.
check ebay prices on games like "Suikoden II" and "Final Fantasy VII"
FF7 isn't _that_ expensive. Suikoden II is, but that's because it had an insanely limited production run.
The _real_ question is why companies aren't doing more production runs of old PS1 games, given that all of the versions of the PS3 can play them.
