sealed copy of earthbound for the low low price.....

Seeing as there was no shrink wrap on this game, I wonder how they are proving it's sealed...

but for $1000, I'm satisfied just having a complete copy that I've played through at least a dozen times.

To the best of knowledge, there really aren't many PS2 JRPGs at the $50-$100 mark. Well, $50 when new, perhaps. Some of the old SMT games ran at that amount, but the reissues drove prices down pretty fast.

Truth is, even PS1 RPGs generally aren't that expensive if you're willing to look for decent deals. I think my copy of FF7, purchased in the past two years, was only $30 or so, ditto for Vagrant Story. It's only stuff like Suikoden II, Xenogears, and Persona 1 & 2 that are totally out there.

i may agree. no game is worth that much.

i first played earthbound around 4 years ago and beat it. to me i dont understand what the hype is. eh. just seems like your average rpg.
 
After reading about the unopened Chrono Trigger game that went for $1,200 I was thinking about investing in unopened Video Games. Now it really is starting to make sense.
 
alot of it is because Cartridges use to sell out due to suppliers producing less than the market demanded becvause they were so damn expensive to manufacture. Considering how easy it is to replicate a CD, I doubt any PS1 games will really become collectors items.
 
It's really a game you have to play during its time. Unfortunately I think it doesn't age as well as other RPGs like Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy III/VI.

FF7 isn't _that_ expensive. Suikoden II is, but that's because it had an insanely limited production run.

The _real_ question is why companies aren't doing more production runs of old PS1 games, given that all of the versions of the PS3 can play them.

FF7 isn't _that_ expensive. Suikoden II is, but that's because it had an insanely limited production run.

The _real_ question is why companies aren't doing more production runs of old PS1 games, given that all of the versions of the PS3 can play them.

The PS3 has limited compatibility based on what model you get... and most of the newer ones don't have it at all, IIRC. PS2, yes, PS1, no.
