Seagull walks into store and steals a bag of chips

video link

I think the ending was funny where the seagull is basically running away with the person chasing after

edit:

another video

this one is of crows using traffic to crack nuts for them over a cross walk, then waiting for the crossing signal to change so that they can walk across the cross-walk and safely get the innards of the nut.

Birds have incredible visual memory. It helps them navigate. If the bird had previously found a bag of chips with food inside (probably in the trash of of that store) and then saw the bag through the window, it could have put the proverbial 2 and 2 together.

Did you know crows have exhibited tool use and even tool making...

* yawn *

Now if he had bagged a six-pack, a box of smokes, and a Hustler mag, then you would have something worth watching...

What is interesting to me, is how things like this challenge our definition of human. Considering that birds aren't even mammals it's particulalry interesting to see them display "human" behavior.

Haha, excellent, reminds me of the farside cartoon with the crow on the side of the road with the spatula waiting for the animals to get hit by a car.

:Q

That is unbelievable.

:Q Birds shouldnt be able to do that.

Seagulls stealing bags of chips, crows making hooks, this is getting scary.

I was attacked by a bird on the golf course in florida a few weeks ago. I think i'm starting to see a pattern.

Wars go on yet there is always enough time left in the segment to tickle us with funny little stories of pretty little birds.

Very good stuff. I love how they took the time to get all of those closeups, and the shot of the seagull alone among all the pigeons, to make it look like he alone was smart enough to pull this caper off.

Not to mention that the genus Poecile exhibit strict syntax in their calls, which are thought to be almost as complex as the human language.
