I was just going by WD's statement that "TLER-capable hard drives should not be used in a non-RAID environments." Does disabling TLER re-enable standard error handling on the drive itself? Hard to tell. WD's advance RMAs and the 5 year warranty on REs are certainly attractive, but if it were me I would go with a non-RE drive just to have one less thing to worry about. Or else get a RAID card and grab a few 🙂

The Terabyte drives are coming with gigantically large memory cache on the drive. Imagine trying to format that bloated piece of hardware.
