Seagate SATA drive running very hot - is this normal ?

Hi,

just receive my new Seagate 200GB 7200RPM Barracuda 7200.7 SATA Hard Drive, Model ST3200822AS.

It has been running for 2 days and I noticed yesterday the hard drive was very warm. So warm I couldn't actually keep my finger on it. Guess it was above 45 degres celcius.

I had the case open and no fan blowing direclty on the drive, but it still seems way too warm.
What's your experience with this drive (or any of the Seagate line). Should I try to get it replaced ?

Motherboard is Abit NF7S v2.0
CPU Athlon XP-M 2600

Thanks,
Remy

All HDDs run very warm or hot. Use a information tool like Everest Home to read the thermal diode on the hard drive itself to see what temperature that is reporting.

Thank you for the tip, I'll do that.

Just for reference, what is an acceptable temp for such a drive. Would it be listed on Seagate web site ?
Thanks,
Remy
