Seagate or Maxtor?

I have to choose between one of the following drives.
There is almost no difference in price between the two drives.
The seagate seems to be quiter and has a higher resistance to shocks.
While the maxtor seems to be a little faster.
At least this is what I found from their respective datasheets.
Which one should I buy?

Both drives have the following specs: SATA 150, 80.0GB, 7200RPM, 8 MB Buffer

MAXTOR 6Y08MO
 
I usually use Maxtor or WD when building systems and have never had a problem with either of those two...and I generally go with Maxtor over WD. I've never used a Seagate drive so I can't really comment on them. It's basically a personal preference...the performance is very close between the 3 brands so I don't think you'll notice a difference no matter which of those 2 you choose.
 
There really isnt much difference between the two....the seagate is going to be a bit quieter out of the box, but the maxtor can run acoustic management and be quieted down even furthur...so, if its noise vs. performance, the seagate would probably win.....the maxtor slows down a bit when run in quiet mode (although mine is running in quiet mode now (an 80 gig) and its totally silent
 
The SATA seagate is supposed to be somewhat loud to some people expecting silence. It doesn't take AAM either. If you want quiet, I'd say get the Maxtor then tone it down. If you want performance, the Seagate (odd that I'm reversing the recommendations for SATA drives).
