Seagate Cuda V

Hey, i've been on the market for a harddrive for quite some time now.
I've done a lot of research and my primary needs are QUIET, 80gigs, ATA100.
I've basically decided on the cuda V.
Unfortunately in Canada i can only find the 180gxp,7200.7,cuda IV, and cuda V SATA.

So is there anyone that knows where i can get a cuda V ATA100.
Also if you disagree with my choice. Tell me your opinion and why.

The cuda IV's are slow in comparison to the V's.
My drive now beats a IV

I read that Seagate is just in the process of switching over production to the V series and by sometime this summer they should pretty well be completely switched. Seems like they had some delays getting over to 80GB platters. I thought the V line would be out last fall.

I?ve only seen a few V?s available here in Canada (Edmonton, Alta) so far but they should probably start to be widely available in the next 2 months.

The V 30GB 7200 100ATA has showed up at NCIX.com

I haven?t seen any V ATA here in Edmonton yet, only at NCIX?s.

In the past few weeks I've built 2 new systems for people. In one, I used a 60gb SG Cuda V and it is super quiet and fast. The next machine, I used a West Dig 80gb "special edition" w/8mb buffer; this drive is also super quiet and man, is it fast! I have a SG Cuda IV myself and I really like it; quiet qnd fast. But, after seeing that WD 80gb special edition in action, I would have to recommend that drive over the Seagate.

WD?s are known to be fast, but they are also suppose to be about the noisiest according to SR ?

Some people also think Deltas fans are acceptable.

All I can say, is that the WD 80gb "special edition" that I installed, was as quiet or quieter that my Cuda 4 and the Cuda 5 I installed and both of those drives are super quiet. This was the same opinion of 2 other people that were there at the time. As a matter of fact, this new machine I built in an Enermax case, has 2 case fans, a Sapphire 9700 fan, power supply fan and HDD running and it was an extremly quiet sytem.

The 7200.7 is told to be much louder (Depends on perspective)

You can not use acoustic management on the Serial V.

So if you want quiet then find an ATA V

The IV is also quiet, but a V with one platter is quiet than a IV with two.

what are the platter sizes of the seagates?
40/60/80 for IV/V/7200.7?
and if i do go V i need to know where to buy...
