One would hope not.
Falling back on the reliability focus(true or not) is acceptable for enterprise drives, since reliability is king there.
In the consumer space, reliability is surely important, but still, performance is far more important.
Of course, most drives will be sold to HPaq, Dell, etc, but as a potential halo product, it had better show some performance gains.
I'm still doubting the whole reliability focus thing though...the marketing people probably wouldn't like that too much.
After all, performance can be seen right away, reliability won't be seen for a long long time, when the product is long since retired, so it's not really much of a marketing advantage, unless you expect your customers to take your word for it.
But if they did, why wouldn't they believe Maxtor/Fujitsu as well, and just pick their drives since they're better performers?
Doesn't make any sense from a marketing point of view IMO, but on the other hand, I'm a techie, and it's a well known fact that techies don't know jack about marketing
