Buy these babies and get youself some cheap RAID action! You can get them here. They have 36 pcs. as I write this post.

EDIT: Shipping for 1 turns out $13 which is too high. These are 1" height SCA 80-pin drives going by their description. -thanks to Beldar for pointing that out below!
So it turns out that this probably would not be a good deal unless you have the adapters to use

A better buy if you don't would be here Click on IBM on the left side and scroll down to the DCHS-04U, ULTRASTAR 4.5GB 7200RPM ULTRA SCSI WIDE 68 PIN for $26. According to Pricewatch they ship it free. So you'd get twice the storage for less. That's if you have to buy an adapter, this one wouldn't need one. Also Global Micro has a better ResellerRatings of 5+ compared to Hi-Tech's 3.8.

Ha, Your right about that! I'll change that to 7200 RPM. I don't know about the shipping I haven't ordered from Hi-Tech in a long time now.

it can if i have good ball bearing and alot of lubrication with oil cooler.. etc.. haha jk .. he meant 7200 rpm.. this is a hot deal for those who wanna put in those computer that does nothing but surf the net... but damn shipping is 13 is kinda steep though

Uh....just make sure before you buy them for your machines, that you notice the small type at the top that says these are SCSI drives.

Its not a big deal that they are SCSI, it is a big deal that they are SCA. You will have to purchase an SCA to SCSI adapter to use them for most systems. Not such a great deal once you add the cost of the adapter.

OK. 13.00 is rediculous for shipping. Especially since i know i could ship that drive ground for 4 bucks.

As far as shipping for 4 bucks, you havn't shipped in a while! US Priority mail 1 pound is now 5 bucks and I am sure this weighs at least 3 pounds!

The second comment about the SCA adapter, I have been searching myself and I have only found them for over 15 bucks and am still looking for a deal. If you find one, post it here!

on the hitechcafe website they have a crap load of 4.1 gig drives for 9 bux.
I know it is more per gig but 9 bux +15 shipping + 15 or so for SCA = 40 bux for a decent scsi HD no?

I think hojl is right by the time you factor everything in unless you have the adapters, it winds up being too much for a 2gig drive. There are plenty of 4gig ones out there for around $25 or so. Sorry, I thought they were 68-pin originally when I posted this.

was gonna get the 4.2 gig one but it is only 5400rpm... not sure anymore..

anybody know how a 5400rpm SCSI or a 7200 rpm SCSI drive compares with a 7200rpm IDE ata66 (since this is my current boot drive).

You have forgotten about Airborne. 🙂

I just RMA'ed a 3-pound router from the east coast to the west for like 5 bucks.

Was going to get a 2.1GB, 1.6", 50-pin, 7200rpm ST12550N for $14 from GMI, but UPS is $8.83*.
(*="actual charge to be determined later")

That kills it for me.

O/T: For future reference, where is the best price on 68-pin SCSI-3 cables? (Never mind; they're listed on Pricewatch.)
