Seagate 750GB Sata Retail Box....$79 w/free ship!

Thanks! I've been looking for another 750 that was reasonably priced, and this is perfect.

No prob, would make an excellent storage hard drive for an HTPC as well! 😀

I think that 16MB cache means that this is a 7200.10 and not 7200.11, though I could be wrong (and it may not matter, anyways).

Considering the issues with the 7200.11s, i would much rather have this drive.

Wasn't this what people said about the 7200.9 drives being more reliable when the 7200.10 first came out? 😕

Anyways, looks like the deal is dead. Comes up at $99 with free shipping for me.

Hmmm, is this the return of HDD deals at Fry's? I probably bought around 15 retail boxed HDDs from Frys.com back when they regularly ran deals. I'm now looking to replace 'em all. 😀 Not because they don't work, but because the bulk of them are EIDE (I used an external multi-drive chassis with pull-out trays) and 500GB or smaller.

Is this a 2 or 3 platter? I like the 640 GB cuz they're 2 platter. Something about 110 GB more for another platter (noise++) isn't terribly exciting. Anyone know?

Actually, I believe this drive uses 4 platters (188GB each). I would have jumped on the deal this morning if the price had stayed at $80 but Fry's screwed around (briefly upping the price to $100) and I ended up buying three of the WD 640GB drives from Newegg for a very similar price per GB (and better performance).

had a 750gb 7200.11 die on me after 4 months. it was part of a media center as the system drive and just storage for movies so it did not get extremely over used (recorded TV went to a separate drive). On the bright side it was a slow death that allowed me to save most my info. Hope it was a fluke and/or the 7200.10 version is more reliable. Other then that i cannot complain about this quick drive.

picked up two, thx. was gonna get 2x500 pata's fpr 59 each for my Legacy system, but I guess I can get a PCI SATA II card and use these.

I woulda pulled trigger but....to be honest with black friday right around the corner I thought it would be dumb jumping on a deal.
