Seagate 750GB SATA Hard Drive $430 at NewEgg.com

I was in the market, i opted for the wd re2 instead... i actually rather have the 24/7 rating as my server are on 24/7.. both have 5 year warranty.. it was .56/gb for seagate and .50/gb for wd re2..

Still its a good drive if you dont use it 24/7

Dunno, if I spent that much on hardware that will be cheaper in a month I think I'd have to kill myself... You people with your super-fast super-awesome rigs make too much money for your own good!

Heck, you need 2 of these, so you can use one as backup. Imagine losing 750GB of info. Unless you want to use ~160 DVD-Rs. 😉

These big drives beg for some kind of hot swap raid where you lose a drive and just plug in the new one and it repairs etc. Nothing but more drives seem reasonable for backup except on critical files.

I like this Newegg review:
Pros: This is a very solid drive, especially when used in multiples. Running four of these drives in a Raid-5 configuration (1 as spare) finally provides a lot of us with reasonable cost options for data-c...

Why 15? or is that all that fits in the case? 10 TB for less than $8k isn't too bad. When they get to be $99 less than $2k. 😉
