It is cool to see that the RR date back to 2000 for that store, means they have been in business for quite some time.

Yeah, doesn't seem too shady, but I just thought I'd give a heads up.

I'd say if you can call and get someone on the phone quick, or if you e-mail and get a quick response, you're probably safe ordering from them.

This is 7200.9.
Nothing wrong with that! But, there is a newer series, 7200.10 (perpendicular recording).

Shipping is $15 for one drive to Michigan....

Edit -- it appears to be $15 for 2 drives as well...

The .10 is also much more expensive than the .9... either way, still a good deal on a high capacity drive.

I checked out the reviews for this drive on newegg.com, there are a lot of happy people but it seems like a fair amount of negative reviews as well. Then again is there any high capacity drives out there that don't have a bunch of reviews saying they fail soon after receiving them? Also I guess newegg.com purchases these particular drives at an auction and they do not have the 5 year warranty on them, makes me wonder if this company does the same thing or if you really do get the 5 year warranty with them.

Does anyone know if there are jumper settings that will set it to 1.5? I know they usually do but is this drive compatible with older motherboards?

This is tempting but my 500GB 7200.10 just died after 1 month of use so I am slightly weary of seagate at the moment. But since this is the 7200.9... And BTW, I bought the 7200.10 for $139 from newegg last month so they are coming down though like I said, I am weary of them

They've been in business forever. We used to buy PCs from them at my old employer, from around 1996-1999.

I haven't shopped there since then since the prices and selection are usually not great compared to Newegg.

I got a call two days after I placed the order saying they were out and would not be getting more in.

I gave them a call, and they were out, but they had the 500GB 7200.10's in stock for $150. Newegg's about the same, but since I live in the area, that's not a bad price to buy the drive today. I'm going for it.
