OT: 5 year warranty for (retail) Raptors. I was really thinking of picking one of these up a few weeks ago, but I was put off by the thread over at StorageReview....

Seagate 7800.7 and above are loud compared to the new line of WD and Samsung drives. I don't really know anything about the speed, but I prefer silence over speed.

I understand that the 'availability' of this deal is under scrutiny, but if you were to go to your favorite search engine and search for something like "newegg 500gb seagate promo" it does appear on many (unnamed) 'deal' and 'coupon' websites.

Hopefully I'm okay making this post. :/

this is a recurring deal. no need to jump on it unless you really need it. I've seen this deal once or twice a month. i got mine during the previous promo and mine was made in Thailand.

the 7200.9 also goes on sale for $140 ($10 off) once in awhile too, but less frequent than the 7200.10
