Oh man I ordered the Maxtor 300GB PATA a few days ago. It is working well but this is another 100GB so that would not hurt. My "educational" stuff could go on this drive as well. Oh well, I'm happy with what I got and don't really need another drive anytime soon. But that drive for $69.99 and this one is $109.99 and I'm not sure if I have the money for this at this moment. Hope you guys enjoy it.

well, never the less, its NOT a $25 rebate.
And I'm not sure how you figure that. its pretty clear - it says SUGGESTED RETAIL PRICE.
Sure its worth the price of stamps to send it and give it a go, but based on the wording, the probability of it being honored on a drive that low below regular retail is slim.

It is a $25 rebate. Read this: link

And the probability of it being honored is 100%. The rebate doesn't give any indiciation at all that you must pay retail price for the drive.

I would order one, but I've never, ever, had one of these deals NOT cancelled by outpost. it's not even worth the effort anymore.

only ever ordered one. I've been in early on 6 or 7 outpost deals in the last few months...ALWAYS gets cancelled.

I'm either unlucky or outpost just plain sucks.

I've ordered three of these 400GB Seagate drives from Outpost (by the way, they're 7200.9's), and all have been shipped.

I'm in for the 16MBer:) I just ordered the 8MBer last night cause the 16MBer was not actually listed "in-stock". Soooo...I had to call this morning and cancel the order the 8MBer in lieu of the 16MBer.

I also think the rebate will be honored.

SWEET!! Between this and the other 300GB Maxtor deal, I got 700GB worth for only $175 hehe. Enough room for now for my HD recording.

Cheers!

This is yet ANOTHER example of "it pays" NOT to buy PC components BEFORE you actually need them.

I have two PCs which are running out of HD space because they each have a single HD (120GB and 160GB).

I think I paid ~$90 for each drive ~2-2.5 years ago. Now they are running out of space and I need to add a HD to each box. By NOT buying an "extra" HD 2 years ago (when I didn't actually need the added capacity), today I'm getting ~2.5 times more HD capacity for $5 less (provided the $25 rebate comes through).

It's awefully hard NOT to buy PC components when great deals are aplenty...but if you don't have an immediate need for a component, it ALMOST always pays to wait until later;)

I just ordered the 400 GB 16mb for $109 and tax shipped free via airborne ground. Local Fry's ad was 119 for 8 mb, so save money and gas.

Now to hunt down that $25 rebate.
