Not too bad, but not quite "Black Friday" price either:

Newegg sent out a coupon today for that exact drive for $99. Not sure of the code off the top of my head but check your email if you get their promotions, or, if not, I can send it to you.

I've been watching neweggs HDDs for the past two weeks looking to make a purchase. Haven't seen anything really good in awhile.

Just before I started looking B&H had the WD Red 3TB for $105 shipped, so I've been looking for something similar. I wanted the red for the 3 year warranty.

Similarly, Tigerdirect had the same Seagate 3TB for $85 or so after coupon code just shortly ago.

If its worth your time to wait for an extra $10/drive I'd say there are better deals, but its not the worst deal out there.

I got the NAS version of this drive for less than $109 a few weeks ago. I have both the drive you mention and the NAS version in my HTPC and they both work good. The 3TB non-NAS has been going good for almost two years.

Those drives are garbage. I had 4 out of 5 die.

ETA: and the remaining one has had hard rear errors.

This is down to $99.99 on Amazon right now. I'm hesitating due to the negative comments about failure rates. Is there a consensus here on what large capacity hard drives are most reliable right now?

add another TB and that would be a good deal.

$70 at TD would be a hot deal.
