89.99 shipped after promo code: buybarracuda

EDIT: deal must be over now, back to orig price of $99 but the promo code should still work

5 year warrenty.. heck of a deal thanks.

New perpendicular recording technology enables higher areal density, fewer moving parts and increased dependability.

hmm never heard of that before.

Nice deal. About $0.28 a gig for new tech thats pretty speedy, which is hard to touch without MIRs.

Its been noted that these drives run a bit hotter than others, and now that I think of it, I believe they have to let the drive get warmer so that the perpendicular recording tech works properly. I could be wrong though.

Looks like they also have the 150GB Raptor for $210 shipped after MIR.

I just thought of something. It'd be nice if e-tailers would allow you to search by cost/GB.

Thanks for the code, I have been looking at this drive for days considering order... now if I only had something to do with all my old IDE drives

is it worth it to ebay some 120gig and 160 ide drives and buy new sata drives at these nice prices?

I use a 74gb raptor for a boot drive and upgraded a couple 80gb and a 120gb ide storage drives to these. Between testing the raptor and these I find each winning performance tests in different areas and overall performance (test like pcmark hdd suite) came close to a tie with the raptor winning on the overall score. The big advantage to these over a raptor is the sound or lack of, the raptor can be quite noisy under seek while I havent heard any audible noise from these.

I bought these when they dropped below the $100 mark and feel they are well worth it, at $89 each I'm tempted to order 2 more (they are that good). So if you are looking to upgrade space and performance I would say go for it.

In!!!
Just what i was going to look for today too. Im going to sell off my 160 gig drive to someone who has a 20 gig drive filled up already. 😀

Anything Tech will eventually drop $5, then $5 more, then $5 more,,,etc

If you are able to wait long enough then you never needed the item and would really save some $

Ooohhh. This is a pretty nice deal. Never heard of the perpendicular thing before. I like Seagate drives though.

So now I can either continue cleaning up the directories on my two drives labeled 'SORT ME' or just buy one of these and dump everything from the two drives onto a new 320gb and let it sit there for who knows how long.
